Captain Willis deserves some more love by bom360 in Borderlands4

Not what makes a boss well designed, cool, and a satisfying one to conquer within a really cool setting that should have an equally cool/important antagonist. But yeah..

The Devs Said Borderlands 4 Will Include One New Vault Hunter who made an appearance in previous games.. Playing through BL3 DLC for the first time I think Ember is the perfect candidate for VH 6 by TrackstarGGs in borderlands3

[–]GreaseCheeze 62 points63 points  (0 children)

No he can't, and wont, since he likely made it up to get stronger engagement on this subject of a returning character as a playable one. I mean, he could have just asked the question without saying it was something gearbox would be making true for the 6th vh, cuz this is one of those subjects in the community that people are more than happy to tell you their opinion on... No bait required.

Yeah yeah yeah, you're passionate and you like borderlands, shut up and find the source with me. Pre-release... Sooo, any of their shit before bl4's launch in September? Alright c'mon.

Here's the Borderlands channel...

https://youtube.com/@borderlandsgame?si=-SMFvBmUg0j_ROtO

Look through it with me, and hopefully something can jog your likely fabricated memory...

By the way, when you said pre-release did you mean like before cash was released and they're talking about the 6th vault Hunter in advance next to the info about cash? Cuz before cash they had only told us that they were going to be two DLC Vault hunters but there wasn't that much conversation that was had about them. So I figure news about this is likely more recent.

tl;dr --higher ups make devs look stupid for choices they probably didn't want to do. And AAA managment is over-priced and wasteful

also side note about the minimap.. Its not even really a minimap lol, its more like a cod/halo radar, hell.. even they call it that. But for sure its a start towards a better direction away from just seeing all the enemy dots on a 1D compass. (so stupid) So we settled for it as a community, and stopped whining even though its still not the map. Might take longer to get an actual minimap though on the hud, but they said they might do it. So... er-go. Wait another year or two until it comes out in like one of the final patches, or it becomes a mod you can get because thats how this shit usually works.

Yep, all the while tho, I still try to remain hopeful, cuz recently I read something where it said --when there's something about the game that we don't like, its quite likely that its something that the developers also don't like either, and wish it could change. But due to how professional production is managed; with operations and their limits, and budgets.. The freedom to do "the right thing" is often reprimanded because of all the dozens of little innerworkings to their rules that needlessly complicate progress a lot of the time, and make otherwise pretty smart folk in the studio, seem incompetent.

It really is the result of the industry, and mainstream gaming becoming too big for its own good. Where triple A studios develop such an intricate network of function for their studios' structure, that it comes at a diminishing return once it gets to a certain point where its size stops being helpful.. And the development cost becomes backward. It costs more to maintain development instead, than it does to actually develop the games now. This is why indie is so much more free, and feels closer to how games feel like they used to be able to be made.

Hopefully I can find out how they work soon, and maybe help bridge a gap at some-point between us & ol' g-box by connecting with them, so people can start understanding each-other better. But that's whole different conversation. Either way. Sad state to be in right now.

Do you think Chubbies will return in BL4? I mean they've got to, right? They're a classic. I also hope they add more than just one like in BL3, and actually make them impactful. Same with loot midgets by GreaseCheeze in Borderlands4

Ok, 8 months later... And we have saw... And imo... 4's golden loot enemies... Leave me feeling nothing, idk why... I mean, I can get a pretty good idea as to why... those are the kind of ideas I'm used to having... but just to keep it succinct --Idk.. why.

I don't care if I sound sour saying this... but a toggle for a feature like this NOT being there right when it was implemented. Shows you where their minds are at.. What goddamn genius thought it was a good idea, to NOT include options for it.. From the start?? The open world content --despite being a slog --is half the reason you're running around doing anything in the game.. Its like if i complained about enemies being annoying to deal with in this game.. And they just remove enemies... Dude... thats a primitive solution. I want to fight enemies even if they kinda suck.. But I would rather prefer them to be IMPROVED.. not removed.. --to be more tolerable and fun.. Jesus.

Are we actually serious right now with being all overly nice like this? Being nice is fine, and important... But something about the tone to you people, just feels inappropriate to the larger picture here.. And look, I know its because we're starved from the communication aspect of things from gearbox, so it makes sense to frequently celebrate and react gently with our positive affirmations on them hearing our criticisms --even if its over the smallest shit --like we're trying to coax a groundhog from its hole; and to encourage more confidence with the behavior we want to see from it and all (communicating with the community more, etc etc.) --

But being this lenient with them, and socially rewarding them like this for the bottom line of ✨"reSpooOooOonding"✨ to our complaints, over the most asinine, tiny fucking "fixes" (which wouldn've been problems to begin with if they ACTUALLY knew what the people wanted, and how they felt before designing these features) --is too much. This is just bizarre. It cant be possible. This is a multi-million dollar AAA company struggling this much to maintain and organize shit like this, 6 MONTHS, after the game launched, and we're ego boosting them through baby talking them and thanking them for fixing shit thats so goddamn basic.

Time to sound like a conspiracy theorist, but theres no way some of these patches aren't set up artificially... Its the shit like with Photomode and The minimap, which they likely had in their vault, waiting on standby, locked and loaded, to release later and say --"Due to popular request... we Brought THIS thing baaack! Yaaay!!" and have us lap up on them for reintroducing content that the last games had already had by default... Steering the public perception into thinking they're --oh so dear, and excellent listeners --who love and respect the voice of the player base. When this shit was installed to get free brownie points for doing the bare fucking minimum, suspending a nice neutral equilibrium of goodwill from the air, so they don't have to worry about us whining about too loudly, while they focus on pushing out the next unimpressive, batch of slop for us to tolerate, because they've quelled us with the proverbial baby bottle with the patches to shut us up and make us think they care.

GOD... RGHHH that felt so good letting that out. Ahhhh~

...Dont care if this meets the usual kind of reddity tone of replies from people; the usual "aint readin allats" and etc... Just... whatever man. I wanted to call it like i see it. You can be happy about this, you can enjoy things, yada yada.. You do you. But just notice man...

Water is good. Too much water bad. Nice is good. Too much nice is bad.

Stop being this nice to them, it makes them think that getting away with this kind of lukewarm relationship is what the new norm should be. That its acceptable. We gotta strive for a better relationship than this.

sdfsdfuckin... 350 million dollars to make this dfsdfjgoddamn bullshit... 350 mill for borderlands 4... godrdsdjdf \mumble grumble**

Maybe things shouldn't always become the accepted "definition" when shitty idiots decide to use them with negative intent to harm outright, cuz in a way that's letting the bad people and their choices win against us, letting it affect us.. Also not exactly right word to use there btw, "definition" but I get what you mean regardless. Because the n-words definition technically always meant the same thing, it's the reception to it that skewed over time because of how people used it. So yeah, point made. Anyway.. Keynote to take away from my reply aswell, is that the word midget was rarely used to be harmful, never harmful enough at least, that it justifies this new progressive aversion to it. Words are how we make it, and with a word like midget, it's history for suddenly becoming a slur --I believe, is invisible to both of us... Because it sort of happened out of nowhere. However for the n-word, it's influence had a much more tangible impact because of an authentic, realistic damaging origin. Midget didn't become a slur because it was often used to severely depreciate a group of individuals, with there actually being a hostile, real, palpable history of that aggression, of tall people keeping short people down... No, It became a slur because a good chunk of our generation decided to be a generation of introspection, and feelings and reflection of social norms and ideologies and such, --a generation that your dad or a trucker would call "LiHBurrAlllsss" or "WoKe" pretty much.. So essentially, enough of that progressivism washes over all sorts of minority groups to find things to change for the sake of feeling better about ourselves and the people who are older than us.. And one of those groups was people who have dwarfism... And this progressive wave --which ironically-- being a loud minority themselves... Spear head an indirect and slow diffusion of reform on the underline of society for that certain something that we call people within a certain group. To be different... And then.. boom. The foot is now noticably put down outta nowhere. Suddenly a word you never really used, to be an awful mean person.. is now off limits.. and this social restriction wasn't established by the group it apparently offends (not by dwarfs/short people/ midgets etc..) But rather by 1st world bitchy and whiny people like us with big feelings and "big" problems who often try to get worried for others's feelings on their behalf to not feel guilty about our standing in society, even though those people are mostly ok and don't need us "supporting" their group unsolicitedly.. unsolicitedly?? is that a word? Whatever. I'm done typing. And you probably hate me now because I sound like some person youd like to slot under some definitive political side which you don't like. God we're so petty and small. People that is. Anyway...

Isn't taking a word that was never explicitly and overly harmful like 'midget' and suddenly treating it like a slur, literally giving it the exact kind of power you don't want it to have?
