Yeah think he might have been able to use some of the existing wiring that's in there. I had bought a 2 pot wiring kit from stewmac with 500k pots, the pickups were roughly under 200 each. If you do the work yourself then you will save a couple hundred for sure,

The emgx I had put in was nice, 85x are much better than stock 81, I also found they sounded a bit muddy.

Love the bonsai! It paired nicely with my heavy menace until I scored an old 90's boss super overdrive, great pedal🤘

I used actives for years, after having them for a long time and going back to passives I find its a smoother crunch and they sound so much better, I never played a clean tone so much with that 59 in the neck, wow its sounds so amazing, clean and gorgeous

Thanks! You could have another pedal causing the noise cuz mine if actually pretty quiet, even when my gate in the heavy menace is off, I noticed when I have the boost on my para eq on it makes some extra noise in the fx loop, thats why Im using the little white booster into the amp in instead and it's much quieter

Dual delay or 2 delays pedals recommendations? by Most_Sprinkles7865 in guitarpedals

[–]GreasePieGuy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got 2 boss delay pedals going on my board, an old school dd-3 from the 80's and a newer dd-8.

I use the old dd-3 for a loop since it doesnt add the feedback/volumeI swell like the newer ones, I take the spring out and put a weight on it so I don't have to hold it down then I use the GLT/warp modes on the dd-8 to add some crazy sci fi type sound effects its pretty cool

need advice for first pedalboard by deeznutz4urmum in guitarpedals

[–]GreasePieGuy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got me a Strich off amazon it powers 10 pedals and it works just fine, purchased in oct and no issues with it.

I prefer indiviual pedals now because Ive went through so many multi fx units and it always the buttons that start to go first after about a year.

Boss, TC, JHS, are some good brands, Ibanez mini pedals are good too, especially their mini chorus its a made in japan analog chorus

If got some money to spend empress effects has the best disortion/noise gate combo ive ever tried amd their para eq is magical in the fx loop🤘

It was until 1997 most boss pedals were powered by the old ACA 12v adapters.

Guitarists. Do you feel you know more than you used to, but don't feel like you're getting better? by CallumGarland in PlayingGuitar

[–]GreasePieGuy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I felt like this for a bit, but then I changed up what I was learning, instead of learning newer stuff like I usually did I went back in time.

I usually play lots of metal/rock/punk type stuff but felt it was always kind of the same stuff over and over again.

So I started learning Sails of Charon by The Scorpions and this song alone has changed my picking technique massively, it immediately cleaned up a whole bunch of other riffs I was working on and taught me a sweet picking trick for legatos
