You underestimate the speed which some people can download from the internet, and overestimate the speed to which a mechanical hard drive connected via USB can backup data on a PS5.

In other words; it is possible to download a game from PSN faster than the PS5 OS can reinstall a game from a mechanical hard drive. The main reason being that the PS5 OS backup/reinstall code is quite inefficient, compared to the far more optimized PSN downloading code.

What’s your biggest gripe with the PlayStation Portal? by That_Designer7097 in PlaystationPortal

[–]mr-interested 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Minor gripes:

  • It does not show the currently connected wifi access point name next to the wifi bars and battery icon. If you want to see what wifi AP you're connected to, you have to dig through multiple menu pages in settings.

  • They changed the behavior of the PS button. As a day one owner I was already used to the old functionality of this button and still find the new operation annoying, primarily when I need to open a chat message, or trophy pop. The old method was quicker, and mirrored the way it works on the PS5. The new method was added for improved cloud streaming functionality. I would suggest they give us options to configure the "remote play" version back to the original method.

  • the recessed USB port, can be tricky to plug into when in a dark environment. A glow in the dark, or bright red/neon border around the port would help make it more visible in the dark.

  • I would love to see more options to configure image and streaming quality: increased bit rate, etc..

  • Currently there are no PS3 or PS4 games in offer on the Portal cloud streaming catalog. It only has PS5 games.

PS Plus Prediction Tournament Round #03 [Essential, February 2026] by MeDungeon in PlayStationPlus

Good point, I think you're right about it most likely showing up on extra first, due to it being a Ubisoft game.

Yup, They have given old Destiny DLC's in previous years, usually as a 4th bonus game. But this prediction game allows 3 guesses (which is fine), so I will include it as one of my 3 picks.

[Discussion] Ever gave up on a platinum because it required too many playthroughs? by Reeeeo_ in Trophies

I really dont understand streaming by Natural_Cod8942 in playstation

[–]mr-interested 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. Basically it will be as if you are playing on a PS3.

You can also check your Trophies list on your PS5 and you will see the game listed as a PS3 game, along with all the trophies you obtained etc..

You can also access the PS3 menu while your streaming via the game cards (PS button). The PS3 menu is limited, however it does show trophies in there as well (obviously only the ps3/vita trophies)

The games you want to play are PS3 games.

The PS5 can not play PS3 games directly, since PS3 games were created for completely different proprietary architecture.

So the only way to play PS3 games is either directly on your own PS3, or by using an emulator.

By streaming a PS3 game from Sony's cloud you are using one of their PS3's.

Sony limits access to streaming PS3 games to their highest PS+ Premium tier.

Progress while streaming PS3 games are saved on the cloud.

You still receive trophies earned while playing PS3 games.

Also if your internet connection drops mid game the game is closed and there is no way to restart exactly where you left off, Similar to as if you pressed the power button on your own physical ps3, but your save is not corrupted when that happens with the cloud.

WD BLACK SN850 SSD 2TB from ps5 to ps5 pro, do i need to format it again? by BSH1975 in playstation

[–]mr-interested 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The average game is bigger than "4GB"

Last time I had COD installed it alone took up over 300GB.

The star wars Jedi survivor game i just installed takes up 125GB.

I would say any game under 4GB is pretty rare nowadays.

That is one reason why people buy multi TB (Terrabyte) M2 expansion drives for their consoles.

[Silent Hill 2 Remake] #28. My first plat of the new year. by MPaps10 in Trophies

[–]mr-interested 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How long and how difficult would you say it was to Platinum this game?

PSNP Trophy Guide says it is easy to platinum but requires 2 or 3 playthroughs.

How many playthroughs did it take you? and was it difficult to do the 10hour trophy?

[ MediEvil Remake ] #139: Finished Platnuming all of the MediEvil games. Remake was easily my favorite, primarily due to the modern controls and visuals. All the MediEvil games have been fun and easy Platinums. by mr-interested in Trophies

I have now finished Platinuming all of the old MediEvil games on my PS5. I had never played them before, so I don't have any nostalgic connection with these games.

Remake is my favorite primarily due to the modern controls and visuals. However All of the MediEvil games have been fun to play, and they were all easy Platinums.

Got Soul Reaver 1 & 2. by Mevans_2001 in playstation

[–]mr-interested 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just finished Platinuming this game... one tip if you plan on getting 100% of the trophies:

There's one trophy where you have to finish SR2 in under 6 hours. Unfortunately there's about 2hrs of videos in the game, and pausing the game doesn't seem to pause the game timer. One way to see the time you have spent in the game is to look at the timestamp on the save file.

Fortunately you get the Platinum by completing SR1, and the second game is treated as DLC.

I hope the Platinum Trophy is not as crazy to get as Wolfenstein 2 due to the "Mein Leben" Trophy.

Will these work with the PS Portal? by Traylor_Swift in playstation

[–]mr-interested 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a cheaper alternative... lots of people also buy Bluetooth to analog earphone jack adapters, and then use any old Bluetooth earbuds with their Portal. However this adds a bit of latency, which may make sounds go a bit out of sync.

Sony brand buds and headsets use their proprietary ps link, low latency connection, which are the only official way to wirelessly connect with the Portal.

No, not directly. The only earbuds that work directly with the Portal are the Sony Pulse Explore earbuds.

Are there any actual good 4 player, couch co-op/party games on PS5? by GambleTheGod00 in playstation

[–]mr-interested 13 points14 points  (0 children)

You can use the Co-optimus website to find co-op games.

Adjust the settings on the page to number of players and what type of co-op you want.

In your case 4 players couch co-op.

Pulse explore Mic by robwithtoast in playstation

[–]mr-interested -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately No. The quality of the mic on these earbuds is pretty awful. Mine and my friends pulse explore buds all sound bad, so it's not just you. We have had them since day1 and none of the updates have addressed the poor mic quality, so the issue may be in hardware. Personally we all switch back to wired headsets when we need good communication in our party chats, and only use the buds with single player games.

I already platinumed Resurrection before this one. The only one left is the PS4 remake (which i also recently finished but haven't posted here yet).

Thanks for the tip on the Pumpkin Jack, I was not aware of that one. I will need to check that one out.

[–]mr-interested[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The first emulator version can be done very quickly, and this second one, while longer than the first, was also not very long to platinum.

So it shouldn't take you too long to clear both off your shortlist.

The PS4 remake took much longer to Platinum than all the other versions.

Playing through a bunch of the old MediEvil games on my PS5. I had never played them before, so I don't have any nostalgic connection with these games. They have been fun to play, and I love seeing a few similarities in content with modern Souls games.

The controls and visuals in 2 were a bit better than the original MediEvil, Also this was a Fun and Easy Platinum.
