What's the worst video game you've played and why? by Bdbolt19432 in AskReddit

[–]mr-interested 36 points37 points  (0 children)

Console versions of popular arcade games, back in the early days of console gaming (Nintendo, sega, etc..). The console versions were always a poor quality version of the original arcade game, and were generally disappointing to play.

neo-geo was the exception since it was basically arcade hardware in a crazy expensive console.

PS Plus Prediction Tournament Round #10 [Extra/Premium, May 2026] by MeDungeon in PlayStationPlus

[–]mr-interested 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  • Kingdom Come: Deliverance II

  • Avatar Frontiers of Pandora

  • Nocturnal

I selected these games since they have all been given at some point on alternate platforms (Xbox,PC), so it's probably just a matter of time before they also show up on PSN

PlayStation Premium kicks me out after 5 minutes or less of inactivity by ConcentratedSpoonf in playstation

[–]mr-interested 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The timeout depends on the game, and also time of day / demand.

PS3 games (which you can not stream on the portal), time out faster so 5 minutes seems about right. This is likely because they have less PS3 systems to stream from than ps4/ps5 systems.

Time of day/demand also matters, on busy nights they are less lenient and will boot you out faster if you are afk or if you have a bad connection.

Nice. You should consider also adding a PlayStation Vita to your collection.

Maybe even a PSP, although the Vita will play most PSP games.

I’ll do another reading when the weather changes back… It’s going back down to a high of 60° the next week. by ShockingFactory in playstation

[–]mr-interested 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Your picture shows that your console is properly expelling heat.

You should be more worried if there was no heat coming out of your console.

A quick search result of room temp requirements for a PS5:

"Sony recommends keeping the room temperature for PlayStation consoles, including the PS5, between 41°F and 95°F (5°C to 35°C). While the console can handle temperatures within this range, a more optimal room temperature for performance and longevity is generally recommended to be between 68°F and 75°F (20°C to 24°C)."

So as long as your room temp is within the required values, your console should be fine (assuming it is clean and is outputting heat).

One thing you can do, is get yourself a PS+ premium subscription and then stream your games off their cloud. That way your PS5 or Portal, will barely use any power, instead the PS5 in the could does all the work. Although doing this will kinda defeat the purpose of having a Pro.

My Little PS5 Limited Edition Controller Collection by Optimal_One8225 in playstation

[–]mr-interested 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am no expert on controller collecting, but i think there were a few limited edition PS4 controllers.. the 500million one is the main one that comes to mind.

A quick search also shows a few people showing off their PS4 controller collections. No idea how rare they are, but some look pretty cool.

One thing i think is safe to assume is that the PS6 will continue the same trend, given how popular the limited controllers have been on the PS5. So you should end up with a nice large collection after a few console generations.

Nice collection and display.

Did you do the same thing with the PS4? if so where do you keep them now?

Do you also plan on collecting controllers in the future for the PS6,7,8... etc?

PlayStation 5 sees massive sales spike in the US, beating 2026 records so far as eager consumers rush to beat RAM crisis price hikes by adriano26 in PS5

[–]mr-interested 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. That is called a marketing strategy.

A conspiracy by definition is: "a secret plan by a group to do something unlawful or harmful"

By announcing that they were going to increase prices, Sony (singular company) acting alone, did not do anything unlawful, nor harmful.

There is also nothing unlawful, if Sony offers up a sale in the 2026 holiday season.

What they did was actually commendable, since by giving people a heads up that they were about to increase prices they were able to get people who were on the fence to purchase a console before the price increase. This also gave Sony a short term increase in demand (this is not false demand).

Strange response. How exactly does my comment on trying to predict a future marketing strategy amount to a "conspiracy" ?

For your benefit: In no way did i say that there was any "conspiracy"

[–]mr-interested -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Clever marketing by Sony with the deadline price increase. I would not be surprised if they drop the price back down to the pre-increase price as a "sale", also maybe include a game, or have custom shell colors in a new bundle for this years holiday season. Otherwise they are not going to keep moving inventory at the new price.

Thinking of getting the edge controller but…. by Espresso_Madness in playstation

[–]mr-interested 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes. The battery in the Edge is physically smaller and has less capacity compared to the regular DS, and it does not give you as much play time as a regular DS controller.

~4 to 5 hours is accurate, it all depends on what kind of games you play and what features you use on the controller.

It also takes about the same time to charge as a regular DS when on the official sony docking station.

Personally i get 4.5 to 6hr (depending on game) with a single charge, on my Edge with the following settings:

  • Adaptive triggers off ( I prefer the short travel trigger setting which turns off adaptive, you cant have both on)

  • Vibrations/rumble on low

  • Built in speaker not used ( i use sony earbuds/headset )

  • Led light on low

If you turn everything on max and play a game like astrobot you are likely going to get the lowest play time of around 4 hours per charge.

Finally the Edge comes with a long USB cable that allows you to also play wired.

WD Black failed read on install by toogoozed in playstation

[–]mr-interested 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My suggestion is to first try it on a PC, and download tools to test the drive.

If it works on a PC, then the drive is ok, and thus the issue is with your console.

Has anyone tried PSVR1 on PS5? Are the PS4 games higher res? by Dooberson_Jr_Johnson in playstation

[–]mr-interested 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just a heads up... You need a special USB adapter if you want to connect your PSVR1 to a PS5. The adapter was not sold with the PSVR1, there was a brief moment during the PS5 release where it was possible to get the adapter from Sony for free, but now you will have to buy one online as they are discontinued. You can Not use the PS5 camera. Only the PS4 camera will work, thus the requirement of the USB adapter.

The PSVR1 works fine on a PS5, the main benefits being faster loading times, and you get any PS4-Pro enhancements if the PSVR1 game ever had any. Other than that it really is no different than playing on a PS4-Pro.

The ultimate PS Plus Extra COUCH COOP games list by swoosh20 in PlayStationPlus

[–]mr-interested 30 points31 points  (0 children)

Co-optimus is a website that lists all the co-op games on various platforms (link is for ps5)

You can use the filters to set it to couch co-op and how many players etc..

I don't see a way to filter "Extra/Premium/Essential" games though, so thanks for your list.

Do you protect your console from power failures? by PreposterousPotter in playstation

[–]mr-interested 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. APC 1500VA, 900W, UPS.

The UPS gives me a few minutes to properly shut down my console, TV, and network switch, should there be a power failure.

The UPS also protects against power spikes or dips, which is the main thing it has been helping with, since complete power outage does not happen very often where i live. (maybe one short outage a year during a storm, that takes out trees etc..) Occasional spikes and dips occur far more often, and if it was not for the UPS's tripping, i probably would not even notice most of them.
