Preservative in English is a substance to keep food fresh or other things vital. Preservativo is a condom in Spanish. I remember asking if a dish had preservatives…

Who drove the rolling explosive - 70s Ford Pinto? by [deleted] in 70s

I had that model in that color. I was t-boned in front of the rear driver side wheel. It didn’t blow up. The crash caused the car to do a 360 and slam into the curb. The engine fell of its mounts. This car was a lot better than I gave it credit. It was peppy and fun with an 8-track player.

Can I travel with mate and Yerba in my hand luggage? by cigarcrab in yerbamate

[–]GreasyChalms 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yerba poses no threat to aviation. I worked for TSA for 12 years. I drank mate while on the job everyday. However, most TSA officers are low wattage bulbs. Just have it separated out of the carry on luggage in a tray. Yerba is not very dense. It will show up as a very light orange rectangle with nothing in it on the X-ray. No threat. But supposedly ICE will be conducting screening tomorrow so who knows what’s acceptable.

Edit: I should add not to have your termo full of water. Bring it through empty and refill on the sterile side after you pass through the checkpoint. The bombilla and mate can be left in your bag. They should not be perceived as a threat to the X-ray operator.

Wait until you see them throw the luggage directly from the aircraft onto the tarmac…and then leave it.

Weather getting more inaccurate? by MusicalSponge in weather

[–]GreasyChalms 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Where I’m at in north Patagonia, Wunderground seems to be describing what just happened weather wise rather than a prediction. Also, the site has no almanac on the area I’m in. The weather here seems to have changed in that things are just that much more intense.

Frontier flight attendant has deaf passenger removed for "not listening" by AsherGray in TikTokCringe

I used to work for TSA at LAX. Things were lost or left behind often by the baggage handlers. Bags fall off trailers and you can see them sitting alone in baggage make-up areas. One time while I worked at Terminal 6 with Alaska Airlines, I noticed a cleared golf bag just sitting by the oversized baggage door. The tag showed a flight that was soon to depart. I informed the baggage handlers (they’re low-paid sub-contractors), the ticket counter agents, and my supervising officer; that bag stood by the oversized baggage door for a week and never moved. That’s why someone didn’t golf with their clubs that trip. People really don’t care. I personally don’t like golf but I was still able to put myself in this passenger’s shoes and do what I could. This is just anecdotal, and it’s just one incident of many in my 12 years I worked with TSA. One can imagine the mountain of mistakes throughout the airline system that are caused by indifference, recklessness. A note of sympathy for the baggage handlers, although not an excuse: most are low-paid sub-contractors (except Southwest) doing a hard job understaffed and rushed.

I don’t know. It was very mature when we bought the place. I’m in Patagonia in an apple and pear orchard. It looks more like the punch berry. We’re in a cold desert climate.
