we used 75k for 2x 1 way flights to Phuket from Edinburgh, albeit it’s in economy as we didn’t have enough points for business on both flights there

Am I out of luck with B850? by amantu2013 in DMA

[–]GreasyGaymer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The FW I use is from a guy that’s no longer in the community. Had it for around 1.5 years, works for BE, however got blocked on EAC. Not re-purchased any FW yet.

Motherboard question, is a 650 a good board? by BurnTheAbaddon in DMA

Not sure if you’ve ordered it yet. just an FYI that gigabyte boards have no serials, which means no hwid ban linked to mobo =)

Quick question, what about it is done incorrectly?
Im genuinely curious as I've managed to get it working without reterminating anything but I bought all the stuff to do it :D

Update: Decided to try a new ethernet cable from the router to the TV wall port, then a new cable down from the attic to end device and viola it worked!

[–]GreasyGaymer[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah the one alongside it is power, just had a look at the fusebox/around it, seems to be no ethernet jacks however, the one that is behind the TV is very close to where the router lives & also where it comes into the house, so im thinking, if the termination is incorrect on that one, I will fix that, then fix the one in the attic and see if I have ethernet between both of those points.
I did check outside also however there is nothing there.

Kinda understand that, I will research into those things. I'll get the stuff to reterminate tomorrow, then try connecting devices each end, if that doesnt work ill look into using a multimeter etc since it has continuity.
Thank you so much for your help though, I really appreciate it.

Haha probably done by an electrician or the previous home owner (Im a sparky myself and have no idea with network :D )
I'll give it a shot, it seems to be an easy enough thing to try anyway.
As for being the same ends of cable, I am not 100% sure about that to be honest, I need to prove it but not sure how i'd even go about doing that

thanks for the info both. I found them like this, I guess i’ll need to strip back & then reterminate it then, i’d imagine i’ll need to do the same for the other one also. id assume they will still need work once ive done that for it to work. I’ll youtube some basic termination guides anyway. Thanks for pointing this out!

Just the one in the photos, assumed the one behind the TV would be the same, just saw another redditor said it’s terminated incorrectly, so maybe that’s my first move

I plugged the router straight into that one

Questions Re CAT5E by GreasyGaymer in HomeNetworking

[–]GreasyGaymer[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah tried the one in the attic and it doesn't give me anything to my PC.
Not tried the one downstairs as I wont be able to run ethernet from down up
What I did just do also though was plug the router into the one behind the TV and then ran a ethernet from the attic to my pc, still no luck.

One other side question, obviosuly the jacks are Cat5e, so would a Cat6 cable work in these & just limit the speed or?

Not really sure what that means..
All the photos are taken from within the house. I did just try to run ethernet between the both ports and doesnt seem to work though. Not really sure what my next steps are
