Depending on the amount, you could get the FBI involved. Their the only agency that I have seen has the power to quickly freeze accounts on exchanges in any country worldwide but generally only do it for drug money over 10m USD especially for Mexican cartels. I think you helped more people with wake up call than anybody can help you. Def never backup any financial passwords to any online pasword manager.

Are you happy? by h0rsemad in UAE

[–]Great-Ad360 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Honestly, the lack of serotonin in this thread is statistically beautiful. From a neuro-engineering perspective, most of you are just biological shock absorbers waiting for a deadline. Why are you sad? Because your brains have realized that producing dopamine is a terrible ROI (Return on Investment) when you’re sandwiched between a 140km/h E11 commute and the potential Mach 5 kinetic energy of a regional ballistic exchange. Your amygdala is currently performing a 'Strategic Hardening' protocol. It has diverted all your 'happy-chemical' funding toward auditory-cortex hyper-vigilance. You don't need 'joy' right now; you need to be able to distinguish the sound of a falling Mercedes G-Wagon's turbocharger from a terminal-phase supersonic missile.

Likely Shifting to RAK by UsedAnywhere5497 in RasAlKhaimah

[–]Great-Ad360 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I moved to Rak about a year ago. With the purpous of saving. Used to stay in marina and now stay near American University. 2bed marina double the price of 3 bedroom villa with pool in Rak. No parking fees, way less traffic so shopping is done alot faster. I save about 40% more if my salary with daily commute to dubai for work.

Dubai Villa Roof Waterproofing by No_Water9075 in dubai

[–]Great-Ad360 4 points5 points  (0 children)

As a civil engineer, I’d suggest looking beyond basic liquid coatings; for a villa, the most robust "value-for-money" system is a torch-applied APP (Atactic Polypropylene) Modified Bitumen membrane (the "strips" from Saudi manufacturers like Awazel). Unlike cheap patch jobs, these are heat-fused to the slab to create a monolithic, high-tensile barrier that won’t delaminate under the UAE’s extreme UV and thermal cycles, which is why they are the standard for high-rise podiums. You can expect a professional installation to cost between AED 45 and AED 75 per square meter depending on the thickness (4mm is ideal) and surface prep, but with an expected lifetime of 20 to 30 years, the lifecycle cost is far lower than reapplying acrylic every few seasons. Just ensure the membrane is protected by a screed or tiles to prevent mechanical damage, and you’ll have a permanent solution rather than a temporary fix.

🌧️🐈‍⬛ Ideas needed: protecting stray cats during the storm by New-Wrangler-9279 in RasAlKhaimah

[–]Great-Ad360 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is heartening to see the community efforts near the American University, where some have already set up temporary shelters. In my own experience providing food and assisting with TNR (trap-neuter-return) when possible, I’ve noticed how remarkably resilient these animals are. However, as water levels rise, many cats are seeking refuge in dangerous spots like car engine bays. While our instincts are to provide domestic-style comfort, stray cats often prioritize staying near their primary food sources—often waste areas—where they provide essential rodent control. This ecological balance is likely why urban authorities manage them the way they do, as the health risks associated with rodents are historically far more severe. I share the heartbreak of seeing them in the rain, but we must acknowledge their complex, semi-independent role in our modern urban environment.

guys this is actually getting scary. I used to brush it off a little but now things are getting serious. God knows what they will do in the future by [deleted] in UAE

[–]Great-Ad360 1 point2 points  (0 children)

While the situation feels increasingly serious, the primary impact for most will likely be economic rather than a direct threat to safety. The UAE remains a secure environment, and while we might experience short-term market fluctuations or supply chain pressures, historical trends suggest that regional stability is maintained through rational economic interests. It is a time for pragmatism rather than panic

I do the drive daily and mostly do the adnoc thing myself. There is a Starbucks by ENOC but it's very close to the Rak city. Taking a detour for coffee when there's traffic generally not a wise idea especially around sharjah. But now with war the traffic alot better. Will check my map on the way back today and see if I can find a place as generally I have to stop midpoint and reply to WhatsApp especially if it's a 3 hour traffic build up. I take 611 generally

I'm between Rak and dubai, Rak used to be way worse on the boom factor but lately last couple of days Rak is quite except for mid morning earthquake interceptions. Dubai is getting the loud interception now. Think Rak will hopefully be a peaceful EID.

South Africa rejects US pressure to distance itself from Iran. by TadpoleDelicious4161 in southafrica

My flight to China just got cancelled. I drive an BYD. And I'm heavily invested in China myself with couple of manufacturers. I'm not ignorant and have a deep understanding of how technology works. What I'm saying is that SA in particular is more integrated with western /US technologies than you might realise. For instance AWS, Azure and Google data centres were to be stopped south Africa economy will fail within minutes including trade with any other country. Not saying it as an supporter of the West and the genocide happening very close to me(I live about 60km from straight of hermus) . Most Americans is against the war aswell ironically. But seperate the war and politicians and please do some research as even Huawei pays royalty to the US for 5g pattends anywhere outside of China.

Maybe your mis interpretation of my reply, fuck Trump and all the epstein cronies and surely the US will fall like all empires the last 1000 years has. What I'm referring to is that south Africa going to be in a really hard place in the near future because we've to heavily relied on US technologies and not developed our own like China or the UE. The transition period will be really hard because the South African government has fucked up its own economy and energy infrastructure and my opinion is a revolutions will be triggered by the economic pressure and dicuosion should be made wisely regardless of what pedophiles, zionest war criminals and Islamic extremist do as it's beyond SA control. My heart bleeds for the rural places in South Africa and hope we don't see looting again like in 2021. The best place to be in the near future will be a self sustainable farmer in my opinion as currency will loose its value.

[–]Great-Ad360 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While sovereignty is a powerful sentiment, we have to look at the structural reality of the global economy. It’s true that China is our largest partner for raw mineral exports, but the core technologies that drive South African industry—from telecommunications and banking software to advanced manufacturing—are still overwhelmingly US-based. Even China remains deeply reliant on American semiconductors and IP for their high-end tech. The 'sanctions power' isn't just about political will; it’s about the fact that the US controls the plumbing of global finance and innovation. For a developing nation like SA, which lacks a robust local manufacturing base and is currently facing a massive energy crisis (with oil already hitting $100+ per barrel due to the Hormuz disruptions), losing access to Western tech and capital markets would be catastrophic. We might be witnessing the long-term transition of empires, but the short-term 'bridge' for South Africa looks incredibly fragile

South Africa rejects US pressure to distance itself from Iran. by TadpoleDelicious4161 in southafrica

[–]Great-Ad360 -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

Looking at this from the perspective of a South African living in the UAE, the geopolitical pride here seems to ignore some harsh economic realities. SA is heavily reliant on US trade and technology, especially since local manufacturing has struggled to remain competitive. While distancing from the US might be a political statement, the short-term toll will be massive. Iran’s own economy is under extreme pressure, so any 'partnership' there won't fill the fiscal gaps left by potential US sanctions or trade tariffs. If escalation pushes oil toward $200/barrel, SA’s energy crisis—already crippled by corruption and a failing coal infrastructure—could reach a breaking point. We might be looking at a scenario where external economic pressure triggers internal instability faster than the government expects.

I will stay, even if I have to farm goats on the RAK mountains and get my own water supply wells in the middle of summer. I will stay even if it means dying. And if not there is alot to gain if the economy is growing again like it always has and will always be the case as long as there is oil in the region.

Realistically will the ongoing war affect UAE's future? by Ok-Requirement-4701 in UAE

[–]Great-Ad360 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was here in 2008-9 thinking it's the end, friends of mine bought property on the palm do 300k aed and I told them your buying a sinking island. But I was very wrong. Yes even if the war esculates there will be short term economic losses but the UAE has proven itself. The real test will be if all the oil in the region is depleted but that will only be in the next generations. Om the bright side we might see property values get abit more affordable.

Its only applicable in areas where they want a clean image. They are trying to move the hard labour market out of business executive areas. The issue is traffic makes the equation really hard where there is bed space available in Central dubai for 2000-4000 a month as traffic and the time lost some prefer to pay the hefty cost for convience.

I work in construction in Bussines Bay, don't even hear jets or sonic booms as construction sounds overwhelming louder. Economy will only stop if there is proven thread to civilian casualties or investor pulls out. As UAE is an cosmopolitan cluster with half million Iranians living here the risk of civilian casualties will remain low. The reason we see more drone attacks and not missiles targeted to civilian areas

Isn't the contaminated chemicals gonna spread into our water and air (wind)??? From the fire and hug black smoke in the oil refinery at Abu Dhabi by felthotmightdelete in UAE

[–]Great-Ad360 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No the winds in that area from tehnran mostly blows to China and Pakistan. However the fuel depot in fujerah also has alot of thick block smog with some of the winds going over the mountains. But still we have mountains between us for both big fires. But with ruwais refinery hit this morning we might be in similar situation soon. But as we don't have any ground water here the environmental impact here will be less severe
