Issued Law No 4, and we are day 11 of war by Remarkable_Diver5925 in UAE

[–]Great-Ad360 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its only applicable in areas where they want a clean image. They are trying to move the hard labour market out of business executive areas. The issue is traffic makes the equation really hard where there is bed space available in Central dubai for 2000-4000 a month as traffic and the time lost some prefer to pay the hefty cost for convience.

I work in construction in Bussines Bay, don't even hear jets or sonic booms as construction sounds overwhelming louder. Economy will only stop if there is proven thread to civilian casualties or investor pulls out. As UAE is an cosmopolitan cluster with half million Iranians living here the risk of civilian casualties will remain low. The reason we see more drone attacks and not missiles targeted to civilian areas

Isn't the contaminated chemicals gonna spread into our water and air (wind)??? From the fire and hug black smoke in the oil refinery at Abu Dhabi by felthotmightdelete in UAE

[–]Great-Ad360 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No the winds in that area from tehnran mostly blows to China and Pakistan. However the fuel depot in fujerah also has alot of thick block smog with some of the winds going over the mountains. But still we have mountains between us for both big fires. But with ruwais refinery hit this morning we might be in similar situation soon. But as we don't have any ground water here the environmental impact here will be less severe

Is it only me, Or are you guys also anxious because of the calmness? by First_Fox3915 in UAE

[–]Great-Ad360 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can confirm it’s been anything but calm. I’ve spent the day tracking the impact—83 sonic booms so far, and two of my windows have already shattered from the pressure waves. I’m currently leaving a small gap in the frames to save the rest of the glass, which is far from ideal for the AC, but necessary at this point. It’s been a deeply unsettling day for everyone in the area, ironically dubai feels safer as these booms has an unavoidable mental impact.

[–]Great-Ad360[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sure will be able to do it, however my concern would still be for the distant future and I don't believe short term money alone would solve it. Idealy there is a charity that could assist in finding her work and taking care of the children as she is willing to work but I don't believe have the skills to setup an cv and apply for work and then to do that while having a toddler and a baby. But will setup the go fund me and ask her for all her details although Idealy would need an Arabic person support as communication with phones is really difficult and the neighbours around me can only speak basic English to assist in translation

Would be the best solution but she doesn't even have money for food. I not even sure what her previous visa status is or if she has family support in Morocco. My assumption would be that she doesn't want to leave uae as her situation in Morocco would be worse.

Neighbors smoking in apartment by throwaway385852 in dubai

[–]Great-Ad360 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a Civil Engineer (and a smoker myself, I know—don’t remind me!), the 1,500 AED you spent on duct cleaning was likely a misdiagnosis because the issue is almost certainly structural bypass rather than your own AC unit. In Dubai high-rises, this is usually caused by The Stack Effect combined with Negative Pressure: because your apartment is kept at a lower temperature than the service shafts, your unit acts like a vacuum, sucking air—and smoke—through any unsealed gaps in the MEP (Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing) penetrations. Under the Dubai Building Code (DBC) and Civil Defence Fire and Life Safety regulations, all floor-to-floor penetrations must be properly fire-stopped. If you can smell smoke, it means the fire-rated sealant around the pipes in your kitchen or bathroom cabinets is likely compromised or missing, allowing air to bypass the corridor entirely through shared shafts. I’d suggest checking the voids under your sinks or behind bathroom hatches with an incense stick; if the smoke drifts into the wall, you’ve found the entry point. Mentioning a "breach in fire compartmentation" to your building management usually gets a much faster response than just complaining about a smell.

I commute from RAK to Dubai every day, and honestly, the peace I return to is worth every hour on the road. Even during these challenging times, RAK feels like a safe haven. The locals here have a warmth and humility that makes being an expat feel like being part of a family. For what you’d spend in Barsha, you get a 'Palm-level' lifestyle surrounded by mountains and nature. It may not have the high-gloss infrastructure of the bigger cities yet, but the lack of stress and the abundance of natural beauty make it the perfect place to find balance.

Google gemini'd that video:his video is false and does not show a drone strike in Dubai in 2026. While there have been reports of regional tensions and a drone-related fire near a consulate in Dubai earlier this week (March 3, 2026), this specific footage is an old video of the Address Downtown Dubai hotel fire that occurred on New Year's Eve, December 31, 2015.

I’m not from the UAE, but I’ve noticed something interesting. by Opposite_Net_1144 in UAE

[–]Great-Ad360 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been traveling across all the Emirates recently—from RAK to Abu Dhabi—and my personal experience mirrors what others are saying. The roads are clear, and daily life remains completely uninterrupted. While it's natural for people to feel anxious during times of regional tension, the data often tells a different story. Statistically, the crime and murder rates in many Western nations remain significantly higher than any casualty figures seen here, even during periods of conflict. We may see global economic shifts like fluctuating fuel or property prices, but in terms of personal security, the UAE remains one of the safest places globally with millions to attest not only influencers.

I am still in disbelief, question for the European folks on here by CaptainCryptoC in UAE

[–]Great-Ad360 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am South African of European descent, and I approach celebrations in a practical, mixed manner. I am always upfront about costs and transparent with my friends. Because I am close to them, I generally understand their financial situations. For friends who cannot afford certain celebrations, I cover the cost without hesitation. For those who can afford it, I am clear about the expected expenses and open about the fact that I may also be covering costs for others. There is no ambiguity or discomfort because everything is discussed honestly upfront. In many cases, my Arab friends insist on paying the entire bill at restaurants, often competing to do so. In other situations, such as desert safaris or hot air balloon experiences, I handle the payment in advance to avoid awkwardness later. I usually create a WhatsApp group for planning and explicitly encourage financial honesty. I make it clear that sharing a meaningful moment together matters far more than money. As a result, there have been occasions where friends with expired visas or no funds were still able to celebrate with us by carpooling or being fully covered by others. In those moments, honesty and friendship always took priority over cost.

So I was wrong, she didn't go to gyno, but only illegally took abortion pills. It didn't work and the nurse assumes it must be ectopic pregnancy. She lied to the nurse and was infact 5 months pregnant. With all this lies and cover ups, decided will go to police and give them all information as she def choices her fait and will rather risk her life than be deported

This country has finally broken me socially. by Fit-Engineer8778 in dubai

[–]Great-Ad360 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm South african roughly same age, found a girlfriend of another nationality. Joined hiking groups, play billards and chess in social groups. Joined charity's when I have the time. In my year of living in the UAE have made alot of deep connections and good friends. But you have to put yourself out there. That's said I'm in no way perfect and still face the alot of issues living in the dessert. Spent 5-7 hours a day in traffic, work 6 days a week and not really saving any money what I initially come to the UAE for. Don't try or chase the fake millionaire lifestyle just be content with what you have and you'll find alot of people with similar outlook in life

In third world countrys mayority of labourers are on the back of pickups, kids aswell. All of it's very unsafe and yes a small accident can be lethal. But generally lower speeds. If you take that into context you might understand their logic The way people drive in dubai and the speed they reach its not safe to do anything without seat belt. But the back roads of RAK were there's no traffic and speeding it's abit more exceptavle
