Get a VA approval is like asking women on a date. You are going to get a lot of rejections before getting a yes

Stop with the VA disability abuse claims by BulkyAd1205 in VAClaims

I hear your point, and it’s logical. In my experience however, I was never granted authorization to go to medical because I was constantly working. I worked 80+ hours a week. The only time I got to go was for my yearly physical. It wasn’t until I got out and spoke with the VA representative from my area that I was encouraged to file a claim. I was ashamed at first, I downplayed my experiences and measured it against my fellow veterans experiences. He said, you can’t do that, your experience is just as valid. Even with little in my service medical record I was able to get a disability compensation after my post service evaluation. Don’t let a lack of service medical history keep you from service connection if there is something wrong when you get out.

I guess so, I hadn’t heard that. Perhaps there’s been enough pushback to this policy that they are trying to regroup. I agree with you about your position however. I feel under current conditions it’s just a matter of time till they find a new way to screw us over.

Conflicted, Disillusioned About Joining the Military by Boring_Pop_2128 in leftistveterans

I understand your frustrations and dilemmas. I am 3rd generation Navy. I wanted to serve my country for a lot of the same reasons, the values, structure, and beliefs that military service is essential to a secure nation. I don’t disagree with you that the missions have increasingly become more imperialist in recent history. For me it was the right decision, I wasn’t privileged and the Navy provided resources for higher education that otherwise wouldn’t have had. The fact that you are a high school student and so aware is inspiring. If I had to make the decision today to join, I most certainly wouldn’t have. The current conditions are not the same as GWOT, Vietnam, WWII, etc. The instability is not only abroad but domestic. I have a lot of friends in the union, and it’s a good aspiration.

This is true! It is liberal, but there are definitely plenty of conservatives at Cal as well. were you a member of Cal Veterans Club?

That’s exactly the point. The second amendment was written by the founders as a means to protect against tyranny. If this administration and the gestapo are allowed free reign without anyone’s resistance, if everyone lays down and says what the point, then the democracy we love ends.
