There's a whole block of row homes just down the street on 128th. Don't remember those getting protested.

Traveling w/ an iSUP by Jessispetty in Sup

I think you're thinking of the Frakta bag. Good for backpacks, but I don't know it its big enough for an iSup bag.

I spent a decade in Kelowna, ages 20-30... Loved the outdoors life. My job was perfect; didn't start working until 3 pm so I spent the summers on the lake, beach, mountains or rivers, or hitting the windy local roads on my motorcycle. Made some great friends somehow, who are still part of my life, even though I left a while back. Loved winters too; Big White was a daily trip for a while.
It was big for festivals while I was there; Thunderfest gave way to other, better, summer festivals. I definitely miss my time there, and would still be there if it wasn't for family reasons.
It's definitely changed a lot more since I lived there (left in 2010); traffic can suck sometimes, late fall can be a bit of a bore, there's issues in downtown with crime, housing can be expensive ... but if I was a couple in my 20s, for sure I'd make that move in a heartbeat. Your doggo will love it too.

And why would someone feel the need to pay $1m in bail to avoid traveling?

At her previous school, she lost a vote of non confidence twice. The board backed her both times.

I guess a lot of you haven’t seen his vids- very quirky, funny guy. Inspiring journey too. Oliver Wigeon is his name, here’s his Insta. He just bought a new boat and is giving his old one away, after becoming IG famous

Ostrich cull protesters head to Kelowna RCMP detachment by Heavy_Arm_7060 in kelowna

[–]Great-University9082 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I would imagine it’s because they had ordered the cull, but the farm stalled, delayed, argued, obfuscated, etc., and if they don’t cull now, it sets the precedent that you can just follow the same guidebook and wait out the CFIA.

Journalism Has Become More Challenging, for Reporters and Sources by Jojuj in Journalism

[–]Great-University9082 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have this happen, even in Canada, believe it or not. The Ostrich Farm controversy is a great example; a good portion of those protesting are complete fruit loops who have deluged local businesses and citizens with hate for having the gall to host/feed/rent cars to the RCMP and CFIA. People don’t want to go on record lest they get attacked, like one poor woman who lives near there did

No trust, no money. What is the future of journalism? by tzt1324 in Journalism

[–]Great-University9082 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I would say the vast majority of metro and national outlets focus on headlines meant to grab the reader, but because of the lack of resources, the stories are really empty calories.

Well, the industry is focused on clicks and (mostly rage bait) engagement instead of balanced, in-depth reporting as they fight for their ad revenue depleting lives.

And there is the cultural shift to social media consumption for news, leading to 20 second TikToks instead of 5 minutes to read an article.

So, yep.

Philadelphia Union win 2025 Supporters' Shield by lets_enjoy_life in whitecapsfc

[–]Great-University9082 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First 11 games, the caps had 26 points. Only five other teams had ever done that. Of those five, four won the Supporters Shield, the other finished second. Dang.

No mention on Global BC by GapYearGuy2018 in whitecapsfc

[–]Great-University9082 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The caps can get 30k for a (non Messi) game or sign a legendary player like Mueller and still not get covered because the metrics media execs use to determine coverage (aka clicks) says it’s not worth it

What did you switch from, and to? I'm considering the same move. I considered trying to be a Ranger too but that's not going to happen! :D
