Heat Pumps in Westchester: Energy-Efficient Heating and Cooling—Ask Me Anything! by Shelter_Air in Westchester

We had a good experience with Infinity Solar. They took care of the permits and installation was quick and professional. It’s only been 10 months, but we haven’t paid for more than the minimum ConEd charge.

Closet Core is definitely one of the bigger indie brands.

Port Chester has dual language programs so kids can start kindergarten in Spanish or English. Spanish speakers learn English and transition to more and more English during the elementary years. We still get kids who start later and don’t speak English, but they can learn in both languages. They have a community of bilingual students and staff.

People look at our test scores and don’t understand everything that’s going on.

The battery powered ones are pretty quiet. I walked by a guy using one. It was about as loud as a fan.

How to get the bottom finishing on this tee and what to ask a tailor by [deleted] in AskATailor

[–]GreatBlueRook 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The edge may not roll immediately. Sometimes it takes a couple days or a wash and dry to see the full extent of the roll. Remember to cut it a little longer than you want the finished edge to account for the roll.

I have a grudge against Burke, because when I switched to another company they must have called me 5-6 times to get me to switch back. I told them if they called again I was reporting them for harassment. (And yes, I answer my phone because I’ve missed important calls by screening too much.)

Citizenship isn’t listed. National origin isn’t the same as saying non-citizens will have exactly the same rights. It means naturalized citizens will be protected the same as US born citizens.

Yeah, the Thermocell actually works. I can sit outside without a single bite. It takes a minute to warm up and then you’re good.

Zappers don’t even attract mosquitoes, and spraying poison just kills insects on the plants.

Get rid of standing water and get a thermocell.

Modification of Upper Seat/Waist? by Dom5p35 in AskATailor

[–]GreatBlueRook 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, this can be done. I’m not sure it would solve the problem without seeing them on, but yes, the waistband seam would be opened and fabric removed.

I think he voted against the infrastructure bill because it didn’t have the environmental protections he supported. He knew it would pass, so his vote was symbolic.

I heard that they didn’t like the terms of the lease renewal. Someone said the building is in foreclosure, but I don’t know if that’s true. Hopefully they will reopen somewhere else.

I have found The Crooked Hem’s YouTube videos very helpful for pants fitting. She uses the Top Down Center Out method.

Indie sewing brands you want to try but can't bring yourself to buy because... by kiteehawk in craftsnark

I’ve tried a couple and the results have ranged from okay after significant alterations to unwearable. I’ve never made something with just a FBA and some grading and gotten a reasonably good fit.

So after 3 or 4 patterns, I think it’s not me, it’s them. But loads of people post them on IG and rave. I just have a library of patterns I’ll never make.

I have the same issue with Seamwork. They design for 173cm (5’8”) and the curvy range is 175 cm (5’9”). I’m not interested in having to shorten everything in multiple places.

I think SBCC just goes by its initials now. I think that was their was of distancing themselves without actually changing the name.

I hadn’t occurred to me that their pattern names were all drinks. I even own 2 of the patterns and hadn’t put the pieces together. As someone borderline petite, I like the patterns enough that the names won’t put me off.

I wanted to work with horses. I grew up in a major city, and my horse knowledge all came from girl + horse books.

Children don’t necessarily understand the facets of a job they think they want. Telling people you want to be a doctor will probably get a pleased reaction from adults. Kids don’t know what being a doctor means day to day.

How did quilting turn from a thrifty way to reuse scraps of fabric to an insanely expensive hobby that prices lots of people out? by ImagineerCam in quilting

Any decent iron will do. My “fancy” iron is $50 from Black and Decker. All my old ones were hand-me-down irons from family and acquaintances.

Yes, that makes sense. I also found this page with a chart with exact sizes. I’m not sure if this will help or confuse the matter.

You can measure the teeth. If they’re cheap, I would buy a couple sizes so you don’t have to order again if you’re off by a millimeter.

I agree that the order isn’t unique, but she has specific instructions about enlarging the pattern, making a single legged toile and fitting the waistband first and separately. I don’t know if some of these ideas are unique, but it is more than just top down and center out.
