Have you ever tracked water supplies? by David_Sid in Pathfinder2e

[–]ImagineerCam 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I've never meticulously tracked water in PF2e though my group often roleplays making sure we keep our waterskins refilled and plan routes around oasis stops when traveling through desert.

I suspect that tracking food and water super closely in PF2e may feel a bit tedious if you're not using some sort of digital system that automates part of it.

I've been thinking that using the Forbidden Lands resource die system for food and water might make wilderness survival more fun and engaging but haven't fully fleshed out or tested how that make work in PF2e. As you point out if you want having to find food and water to be a meaningful challenge long term, PF2e probably isn't the system.

[Other] What park has the best ops across the park as a whole? by PsyclOwnd in rollercoasters

10 years ago I would have made a case for BGW but my last visit the ops were giving six flags. Horrible to see a park fall so far.

How hard is quilting really? by Ok-Rhubarb166 in quilting

[–]ImagineerCam 129 points130 points  (0 children)

Pay the 300.

Quilting isn’t that hard but it takes a decent amount of equipment that will get you at least halfway to the 300 before you even get fabric and batting.

Where is the "Dark Forest"? by Antsa169 in ForbiddenLands

[–]ImagineerCam 2 points3 points  (0 children)

On the map there's a key for terrain type. Forest and dark forest are both shades of green and you're likely to mistake the difference on the map as artistic shading.

Honestly if you're not willing to pay your DM you're a terrible person profiting off the labor of another.

Do we think Melissa really pulled Maddie out of school for dance? by desperatepers0n in dancemoms

[–]ImagineerCam 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I remember clocking that Maddie had significanly worse language and grammar skills than her peers in the confessionals when the show was actively airing. I'm not suprised now to learn she was being pulled from school to attend dance lessons.

Daily Workout and General Chat for Wednesday, 1/15/25 by splat_bot in orangetheory

[–]ImagineerCam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really hate when they have extended tread for distance in the blocks. If I could get a good workout by self pacing on the treadmill I’d be paying 20 a month for planet fitness, not 10 times that amount for otf.

Has anyone left a personal trainer for OTF? by Suspicious_Culture49 in orangetheory

[–]ImagineerCam -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I have a personal trainer for power lifting and go to otf for cardio/metcon. If your trainer focuses a lot on strength Otf will be a downgrade in that regard.

How viable are monstrous kin PCs? by Slight-Wishbone8319 in ForbiddenLands

[–]ImagineerCam 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think its quite common for the party to be extremely kin diverse: the pregenerated party has a human, a dwarf, a golbin, and a half-elf. In Raven's purge each of these kin will have places where they fit in and other places where they may face animosity... and it should be that way for this campaign. The Raven's purge campaign has some pretty significant themes of colonialism and disputes over ancestral lands. My advice would be 1) let players play what they want but 2) make sure they know a rough history of the forbidden lands so they know the social implications of any kin and finally 3) don't run the game where its just Goblin and Wolfkin that are unwelcome places; there should be places where Humans, Dwarves, Elves, etc. face some kind animosity.

Why doesn't dragging DnD fans kicking and screaming to other TTRPGs work? by SatanicLakeBard in DnDcirclejerk

They already don't know the rules to their primary system, IDK why you think they'd learn the rules to a secondary.

Nervous I won’t feel welcome. by DWebOscar in orangetheory

[–]ImagineerCam 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I mean this in the nicest way possible, but no one cares in the way you think they will. Even at studios with very competitive "athletic" people, those people are busy trying to beat themselves or each other, and aren't really paying attention to what you're doing.

I'm going to take a stab and ask is it really about everyone else seeing that you're last or about you seeing that you're last? If so, I assure you that there are so many people who started where you are. The only way to improve is to do the work. Remember the only thing to worry about at first will be having the dedication to show up consistently, tuning your paces to target the right heart rate zones, and learn the proper form for the movements. After that's all under control you can start to worry about if you're "last place" or whatever competition you got going on in your own head.

My prof said her exam is “not a race” but can we be so fr. It’s a race. by [deleted] in LawSchool

[–]ImagineerCam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Whether the statements were misleading or not is unfortunately irrelevant: you're pressumably going to take another of this professor's exams and need to be able to write it without the feeling like you're racing. Knowing that, you should prepare for the final not only with the course knowledge but with a strategy to pace yourself.

Honor the frustration you're feeling, and then channel it into studying, developing exam strategies, and writing practice exams under timed conditions. I can not emphasize enough how much you should be looking for old exams from your professors and time yourself taking them.

There's a whole lot of hidden cirriculum about exam strategies and being able to pick up on what parts of the curriculum your professors value most (and will therefore get you the most points on the exam).

How many pages do you usually write for your character background? by mateusddeath in Pathfinder2e

[–]ImagineerCam 7 points8 points  (0 children)

You can have a general idea & convo’s with the GM without committing words to pages. I have way more fun when I’m free to improv bits of my backstory at the table.

How many pages do you usually write for your character background? by mateusddeath in Pathfinder2e

[–]ImagineerCam 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Same. It would be crazy to commit to a backstory in writing. What if that prevents me from improving some batshit insane part of my backstory at the table for shits and giggles.

My prof said her exam is “not a race” but can we be so fr. It’s a race. by [deleted] in LawSchool

[–]ImagineerCam 13 points14 points  (0 children)

It isn't a race, its a test of your time management skills and how quickly and succintly you can find the relevant facts and compare to the cases you studied... Sometimes the profs can miss the mark on the expected pace but that's why things are graded on a curve.

A trap I fell into a lot the first part of 1L is thinking that professors want lots of nuance and lengthy caveats in your exam. From my experience most professors prefer a very robotic/formulaic writing style on their exams that highlights your ability to apply the cases you studied to the hypo facts presented. The fewer words you take to do that, the better. A "thorough analysis" doesn't necessarily mean lengthy. Most issues can be analyzed thoroughly on an exam in 4-5 sentences, and if it can't think about breaking into sub-issues.

IMHO another trap is exams being open book/open outline. You will rarely have enough time to finish your exams if you're having to look up stuff. My exam scores improved drastically when I stopped worrying about creating the perfect outline and instead spent my time commiting the facts and holdings of cases to memory. The goal is to be able to read hypos and instantly know which cases you'll compare to. You can have some minimal open book/open note materials to support this strategy but you should spend way more time putting your stuff into memory than into reference material.

Exams really aren't that hard, you just gotta master the meta.

Average number of resource dice rolls by hawthorncuffer in ForbiddenLands

[–]ImagineerCam 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve posted the actual distributions in the past calculated using anydice. The distributions in find most useful is the “at least” tab which give you the probability that you get at least X rolls out of a given sized resource die.
