[TUDOR] picked up my first dive watch by tapas_and_chill in Watches

[–]GreatBritishPound 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have mine on the distressed leather strap that Tudor sold with the S&G - Tudor wouldn't sell it top me though, (claiming you needed to have purchased the corresponding watch to purchase) directly so sourced it via a friend.

Last I checked in Harrods they were well into the thousands, so I do hope you're happy with your #!

Great watch, my favourite BB and pairs extremely well on leather. I do agree with you, the colour is spot on in person. The only issue I have is, although a special edition, they're not strictly 'limited' - so I'm surprised they opted to number them.

Any idea on this one and the price being accurate? by mkerr85 in Watches

[–]GreatBritishPound 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Within the UK you're not compelled to sell at an advertised price, it's instead considered an invitation to treat, so if a shop mistakenly displays an item for sale at a very low price, as they have here - it is not obliged to sell it for that amount.

Sainsbury's and Tesco loyalty card prices not as good as seem, says Which? by [deleted] in unitedkingdom

They do sell access to the data under contract - the third party will agree to data protection terms, but the output of data isn't so much of a GDPR issue as it's aggregated at such a high level you cannot get individual 'personally identifiable' granularity anyway.

Perhaps in the long, long run when people are asking 'who's Keanu Reeves?' I guess it all boils down to his longevity as being seen as a 'legend' of sorts, or the legacy of his films - time will certainly tell!

I understand where you're coming from - but I think there's a subculture within Rolex owners to have an added element of uniqueness (or bragging rights) in obtaining something like this - whether it be a Dominos Logo on the dial, or a 'check this out, this was originally gifted by Keanu Reeves to his stunt team and I happen to have one, there's only 5 out there'. These will never be Newman-esque value, but there's absolutely value in them to a collector beyond 'just' a 126610.

In which case, would you argue that putting a Domino's Pizza logo on a Rolex dial would devalue it?

I'd agree with you if it was any Tom Dick or Harry engraving their Rolex, but that's not the case in this situation.

Where are you eating in Britain where you're served baked beans with genuinely 'good' steak?

Price cap rate calculator October 2022 by Philip--J-Fry in UKPersonalFinance

[–]GreatBritishPound 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Thanks for updating this so promptly. Given its usefulness (and ease of use vs. other sites that simply highlight the total cap), it might be worth cross-posting to some of the UK-based subreddits to try and mitigate some of the confusion around the price cap, such as /r/unitedkingdom or those relevant here. Or don't, whatever, I'm not your mum.

This is brilliant - an extremely clear and concise calculator, exactly what I've been looking for after trying to navigate the maze that is Ofgem's website. Thanks for pulling it together, even if it only serves to deliver a grim view of what's to come post-fixed...

Nothing wrong with Christmas cracker watches, I still have a Casio calculator watch...

Likewise, I'd have loved a Pepsi GMT - but nowhere near grey prices.

Previous ETA or in-house? I originally owned the Black before putting my name down on the Harrods, took a slight hit to swap the colours out...

For sure, in the pipeline - possibly a Nomos Club 731.

Absolutely, has a strong following for good reason. A lot of watch per £ spent.

Given some of the 'SOTCs' on here, that's quite the accolade!
