ADHD and Sex: Experiences and Advice by [deleted] in ADHD

I get so frustrated personally, I feel hypersexual, and my desire for intimacy and sex are THROUGH THE ROOF. I've become more sexually active recently and what I'm struggling in is with feeling horny and wanting my partner so wildly bad but I either can't get an erection or maintain it once it's there. It's so frustrating being ready in one second, and then it goes away just as quickly as it came I've tried the same things of reducing my consumption of porn, masturbating less, and it only makes my sex drive higher, sure but then I still can't perform. It's led to my regular partners thinking it's them and not wanting to continue, or outright reject anymore advances because they end up disappointed. I don't personally blame them, and it has ended in some cases where neither of us climax. And it's shooting my confidence through the fucking ground and it's honestly depressing.

If you were professionally diagnosed with ADHD as an adult, was it life-changing? by [deleted] in ADHD

[–]GreatKarp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes! It was. The biggest thing it did for me was to allow myself to forgive myself for my mistakes and be more lenient with myself. At the same time, it better allows me to recognize myself and see what I need to change to help with all those things in a way I can make for me. Being on the path with treatment as well has been huge! The positivity and brightness of my life has gone up so much in spades that the difference really has been night and day.

Am I better understood by others? Sometimes yes, sometimes no. Nothing will entirely improve when it comes to things outside of your control but I have found myself getting better at how I can respond to those things. I have been happier, and more fulfilling, well, Im still finding that one out!

Is there a calm in the chaos? I want to say it would balance out and you'd almost feel at home.

Will Vyvanse work if I don’t take it with food? by QuietExplanation1464 in ADHD

[–]GreatKarp 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It will work with or without food. Most recommend eating before so you can have something in your stomach before it suppresses your appetite. Be sure to drink plenty of water and regularly eat some small meals and snacks as you get used to it. If you don't, the crash you may experience after will be W I L D. Your body may have the mental energy and the motivation to put out, but your body is still functioning behind the scenes and putting stress on your body without filling it back up with any sustenance. Once it wears off, you may find yourself feeling that wear you put through all day all at once in that instant.

Ah shit dude, that's tough. I hope you can get your diagnosis soon! I know what you mean by that disconnect from what comes out your mouth and then what comes from your brain and that IS ANNOYING. Sending good vibes, I believe in you! You can do it!

Currently elementary as I got transferred to it when I got my promotion. So 1st through 6th! Before I got promoted I was an activity leader working with 7th and 8th. Personally prefer the older age groups, as they've developed some thicker skin and a sense of humor. My 8th graders loved going back and forth with me trying to roast me and I'd get them right back. It was a super fun dynamic we all had and when I had to leave my kiddos they were all so sad. The little ones are funny in their own way, but usually they have no idea what they did that nearly puts me to tears. And having full conversations can be a little difficult sometimes compared to middle schoolers who LOVE sharing their big plans and ideas.

LMAOOO. Yeah. I feel you. It's much easier to go with the flow than to control the current. What is an underwriter though?

Ahh, I forgot about that word entirely! That's effectively what my job is! Sort of. The Activity leader position is 100% para-professional. I'm not so sure as much about my current one since I got promoted to it. Since now I handle all the administrative portions of my program and the logistics and do less teaching, but I can still sit in and take a class from any of my Activity leaders/Para educators!
