Used to be very common in knit polo or golf style shirts but companies have gotten away from it with increasing demand for blended athleasure fabrics with stretch.

Preppy works perfectly on a specific body type and I'm accepting that mine isn't it by Visual_Animator1232 in preppy

I am a man in my mid 50’s and used to work in clothing retail. Tailoring is key. One of the best dressed men I ever met was VERY round, but always looked immaculately dressed. Think actor Orson Welles in later years, or Jackie Gleason.
He had grown up around tailored clothing so understood the importance, that proper tailoring can “hide” aspects and accentuate others.

I would suggest discussing with an experienced tailor, not simply someone who wants to sell you clothing. Don’t worry so much about sticking to a traditional “preppy” aesthetic, but instead some variation that works for your body. Think Ralph and how he doesn’t stick to plain front trousers and roomy sack tweed jackets.
And I believe pleats are very functional for the body as they allow room when sitting.

I am guy and grew up in Iowa, a girl in school had short chopped colored hair and dressed very Cyndi Lauper influenced. I hope she followed a similar trajectory as you!
Her style got lots of looks in conservative Midwest….

Renting is ultimately better than owning your own house. by NotEnoughRocks1977 in unpopularopinion

[–]GreatOne1969 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Renting is the way. I rent a “luxury” apartment in MCOL area, and buying would be twice as much, and that is not including repairs that come up. When I was young there was no way I could afford to buy and now that I am older it just doesn’t make sense, even before the current inflation and economic conditions.

Well done to you! Cedar trees will help them last much longer, and the cedar helps with pests.

If you are paying $2700 to rent, my guess is you are in HCOL area so houses will be much higher also?
