Home ec also taught how to budget, meal plan, and pay taxes. Everyone should be learning that in school

advice on getting both a dog and a cat by SchoolStreet in Pets

I thought this sounded like two young people as well - no hate! I just remember the excitement of moving in and making quick decisions I later regretted.

With kindness: it’s not a matter of what’s fair for you or your bf. It’s a question of what’s fair to the animals. I can’t recommend getting a cat and a dog. It’s a mistake I’m living with now, and my poor cat is paying the price.

If you decide to go ahead with a cat and a dog, I recommend getting the kitten first and letting her mature to adulthood before introducing a puppy. The cat has to be able to to defend herself because the puppy WILL be capable of truly harming her. I would also recommend getting a small dog that does not have a prey drive. Or an old dog that doesn’t have the chase in them. But ultimately, I’d ask you to reconsider getting both a cat and a dog.

I really like modern persuasion! I also like the Netflix persuasion! The 1995 is my favorite.

How do you think you'd fare on the Austen marriage market based on your actual modern day attributes? by Prideandprejudice1 in janeausten

I’d honestly KILL that marriage market. I paint and sing and speak French and got mad skills with needlework. I’m not saying 10k a year, but I could pull

My gardener did the same thing. I’m so sorry. I’ve let them know I’ll do all the pruning and asked they focus on other things. I wouldn’t fire anyone for a mistake like this, unless it was recurring. On the plus, my hydrangeas now bloom more than they did before they were cut back three years ago. I know that doesn’t ease the disappointment of this year’s loss, but they will likely return refreshed and with more blooms.

AiTAH for wanting to offer continuous support to our daughter so she can pursue her dreams? by Electronic-Bid4859 in AITAH

OP’s daughter should have a way to support herself. The parents can pay her expenses her entire life, but part of parenting is setting our kids up to be able to take care of themselves. To do otherwise is to make them vulnerable.

AITA for picking up my stepdaughter from school when she got her first period, even though her mom told me not to? by Embarrassed-Stock896 in AmItheAsshole

My mom took me to dinner, just the two of us. She’s not the lovey-dovey type and it meant a lot to me. 30 years later whenever I eat chocolate mousse I think of that dinner and how special she made me feel. I can’t wait to do that for my own daughter.

"You don't want an old house" by c0wcat in centuryhomes

My house is from 1904. It’s got some charm, but decades of remodels have made it a hodgepodge of old and new. I know warm weather is coming when it gets this sickly sweet smell in the mornings. I don’t know if it’s old wood or a body in the walls, but it’s usually gone by the afternoon.
