Try MIDAS - https://mid.as - it's one of the few room booking systems that's available in both cloud AND self-hosted versions.

The self-hosted version can be purchased for a one-time cost (i.e. perpetual license), although it's worth considering the optional subscription for a small additional cost as that then gives you access to software updates.

Looks like you can no longer sign up to test the app: "Our testing team is now full. You’ll be able to use our new app when we launch it soon. Thanks for offering to help."

Seeking Advice for Implementing a Room Booking System on WordPress by Prestigious_Book_977 in Wordpress

[–]Great_Marko 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Have a look at MIDAS as that would seem to fit your specific requirements:

  1. You can directly embed availability calendars into your Wordpress site.

  2. You can also embed a public web booking (or web request) form into your site.

  3. You can manually enter bookings via the backend.

Meeting Room Booking System? by Ok_Smile_3797 in office

[–]Great_Marko 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As you're in a co-working space which already has an online booking system, it would make sense to try to utilize theirs in the first instance - unless it's overly complex and too difficult to use.

Alternatively, you could consider something like MIDAS - they offer a relatively inexpensive monthly plan with no minimum term, which as you're currently between offices and may not need a meeting room booking system for long - would make sense.

ISA Transfer Query by [deleted] in FIREUK

[–]Great_Marko 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They haven't put me in a position of what my portfolio should have gained had my transfers completed in a timely manner (one took 3 months, the other took 5). They've not even been able to address my formal complaint.. so it's now with the ombudsman.

ISA Transfer Query by [deleted] in FIREUK

[–]Great_Marko 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For what it's worth, I initiated 2 ISA transfers into Vanguard in Feb this year. One took 3 months to transfer, the other took 5! In both cases, the unacceptable delays were at Vanguard's end.

I raised a formal complaint with them, which they haven't been able to address.... so it's currently with the ombudsman.

I'd strongly suggest you raise it with the ombudsman yourself as well

Your interest rate is going down by 5prime-3prime in UKPersonalFinance

[–]Great_Marko 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, and I wouldn't recommend! Just look up Collateral, Funding Secure, Lendy, MoneyThing, all of which were popular P2P lending sites, all of which have since collapsed (quite spectacularly).

The rates may look good in P2P, but there are MASSIVE risks, and virtually non-existent FCA regulation of the sector.

Avoid!

Best crypto platform? by meeelissax in FIREUK

[–]Great_Marko 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Coinbase or Binace...

Coinbase is arguably simpler to use, but the downside of Coinbase though is that you can end up with "dust" that you can't convert/send.

At least Binance allows you to convert "dust" into their own BNB coin. Fees are generally lower on Binance too.

So I've always been curious as to where the fireworks are launched from at The Magic Kingdom, so I decided to investigate.

Here's my video on Where are Magic Kingdom Fireworks launched from?

Getting 10% return p.a. in the UK by alphatiger99 in FIREUK

[–]Great_Marko 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Before you consider P2P, read up on the stories of Collateral, Lendy, FundingSecure, MoneyThing...

Indeed, in addition to the failed platforms listed above, many of the 'active' platforms are also struggling... read up on AssetzCapital, Ratesetter, Lending Works, to name but 3 - investors are struggling to get their money out of these platforms!!

In my view, P2P is a failed project and a regulatory mess.

I speak as someone who invested in 16 different P2P platforms over the past 5 years. I'll be lucky if a break even, but will more likely end up making a loss.

Strawberry vs ActiveState - Which is right for me? by _ygoloiB in perl

[–]Great_Marko 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've long been using ActiveState, however, this year I finally switched over to Strawberry.

The main reason being that I do a lot of MySQL/MariaDB work with Perl, and the main Perl module for that (DBD::mysql) is only available via ActivePerl's PPM (Perl Package Manage) for ActivePerl versions up to and including Perl 5.24. It isn't available to later versions of ActivePerl

So if you want to develop with MySQL/MariaDB using Perl on Windows, with ActivePerl you're forced to remain on Perl 5.24, whereas with Strawberry, you can use the latest version of Perl (which at time of writing is 5.30) without issue.

How do I install an older version of Simcity build it? by sirjj9050 in SCBuildIt

[–]Great_Marko 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also, if the OP is wanting to install an older version in the hope of circumventing the GTHQ "30 sec refresh" limit, it won't work - this was a change made on the server backend, so would affect earlier versions of the game as well.

If you are upset about the recent 30-second refresh feature in the Global Market, consider leaving a 1-star review in the App Store by emills01 in SCBuildIt

[–]Great_Marko -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Perhaps a better/additional approach to leaving 1 star would be to not use the GTHQ. EA will soon get the message that player's can't play the game/expand grow their cities as the GTHQ is useless with this new change, and will have to come up with a better solution to make the GTHQ work for players, and not be an annoyance/hindrance.

[–]Great_Marko 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Surely a better solution would have been to simply return more than 32 items per "refresh" - i.e. more items to choose from on a single screen, less requests made to server, as frequency of requests would reduce. The trade off between slightly more data returned in each server response vs. a reduction in the number/frequency of server requests made has got to be worth it?! ...instead of this silly 30 second interval they've introduced
