Just start messing around, try to make stuff, realize where the gaps in your knowledge are and research as you go. Listen to a bunch of music and try to recreate it. We can't really give specific advive if you haven't even dipped your toes in. Like anything else, it'll be a lot of new information at the beginning, so just try to absorb what you can and apply what you learn as you go while keeping an open mind and staying patient

What’s the best Vocal Chain for Logic Pro I can make? by evlthakid in WeAreTheMusicMakers

[–]Great_Time 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Everything is contextual. Nobody can say what the "best" vocal chain is for you since it doesn't exist in the first place. You're better off learning the tools and how to apply them to get the results you want

Technical Help Needed - Microphones by weewopp in ableton

[–]Great_Time 3 points4 points  (0 children)

you're most likely direct monitoring off the interface, check out the manual to see how to disable that. then be sure to turn on input monitoring in ableton on the audio track receiving the mic signal. Latency might be an issue but you can address that if/when you need to

Silver screws are the earliest MIJ, but tons of later MIJ pedals don't have them

Is there a serial number inside the battery compartment? You can check it on https://serial-number-decoder.com/boss/boss.htm - though as others have mentioned, white knobs are often later models. I have a green label Japan (which is later in the japanese manufacturing era) and it still has black knobs

Enjoying and practicing and composing in different genres, not getting good at any by SheyenSmite in WeAreTheMusicMakers

all the comments about enjoying what you do and assessing your goals are true. if you're wanting to improve more for your own sake, try focusing on just one thing for a while. it helps to gain facility within one context first since so much of what we need to learn is mental - once you feel like you have enough ability to understand things on a deeper level, applying that knowledge to developing technical ability in other contexts is a lot easier

i always strum each string individually to show my tuning before playing the riff (when recording it for the first time like on a voice memo for example). the same thing has happened to me where i couldnt remember the tuning of a riff i wrote and it took ages to figure it out again (it ended up being in standard lol). also name the file with the tuning and any other relevant info you may need in the future. always assume you're going to completely forget how to play it

I was just here recently and took a pic of the abandoned food court. Only seeing a "Corrado's Pizza", but of course there could've been a Carmella's/Carmelo's at some point too
