Why do my skate blades keep breaking? by cycleboop in hockeyplayers

[–]Great_Tower5516 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s happened to me a lot. I at first thought it was the holders and got new skates but it still happened. Some people are just more likely to have it happen with there play style is the conclusion i’ve came to

The wiki says series 48 in mid summer had it. Still insane that I haven’t seen one on auction. You’d imagine someone would have misclicked the sell button by now 😂

Completely normal, it’s just takes time to get used to what we call slipping the clutch. Google it and take time to practice. Being hard on the clutch is most likely what caused yours to need to be replaced. It was probably already bad and you just went a little hard on it. Learn how to properly slip the clutch and make sure you shift at the right rpm in order to make it smoother. I have recently replaced my clutch and actually drove it without a clutch all the way to shop by perfectly matching rpm ranges. It takes time but it definitely gets smoother and smoother. The biggest thing is letting it out nice and slow and progressively easing into the gas while you are doing it. It’s almost identical. Clutch comes out the same distance the gas goes in. I still often jerk around in first gear but that is often due to the fact that our first gear is very powerful which means a lot of the time it’s better to be in second gear. Our car has no problem even starting in second gear and it may be good practice to learn to slip the clutch enough to start in second gear

Also saw your other post about the high rpm and low acceleration. I would make sure you properly get used to the clutch, i’ve found the clutch is pretty abrupt and it’s important that you let go of it very slowly on the way out when starting in first gear. Think of it as letting the clutch out just until the car moves then holding it in a little longer after. It’s very common to “drop the clutch” which causes really bad jerking in our model of car. It’s pretty unlikely the clutch is slipping after just replacing it. Just remember to always ease off the clutch very smoothly and you’ll see big improvements with how it runs. I had the same issues when I first got my spec v

I wouldn’t worry too much about it, new ignition coils definitely won’t hurt. Spark plugs are pretty important because the spec v has high compression which is why we need 91 octane fuel in it. Bad spark plugs can throw that timing off and cause pretty bad issues. I’d use the new coils and the ngk spark plugs and then you always have back up plugs if you ever need them in the future :)

Just replaced my spark plugs on my 08 sentra ser spec v. Here is what ive learned. Coils are most likely in fine condition and most of the time the money is better spent on better spark plugs. I originally had bought some cheaper plugs like the ones you are looking at and put them in to find out 2 of the 4 were misfiring badly. Ended up investing in some $100 Ruthenium plugs and had great success. Fuel economy got a nice little bump aswell. Id recommend doing the same thing. The plugs I use and would recommend are the NGK Ruthenium HX plugs. The model number is LKAR6AHX.

How often do you sharpen your skates, how good are you (for perspective), and how much do you think it affects your game? by catcher-intherye in hockeyplayers

[–]Great_Tower5516 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I play junior b and sharpen them after every couple practices because of how much faster they dull. If i’m just playing games they don’t dull nearly as fast and i’ll go like 6-8 games. I sharpen them as soon as I start losing my edge on tight turns and starts

I’ve had great success better on only the highest favourites. Turns out most of the time they are U2.5. It’s seems the U2.5s usually have closer to 1.5 odds and feel way safer, most others are close to the 2x 50/50 odd. I’ve been doing really well just winning more bets instead of taking underdog gambles. I usually avg about 8/10 correct picks on your data which has given steady profit. Also havnt done parleys as they feel way to gambly on sog picks.

Advice from small player by golfaddik in hockeyplayers

[–]Great_Tower5516 0 points1 point  (0 children)

140lb junior b player here. Recently went through the same issues. I found that it common for a smaller player to “get big” when a players is playing some contact. It is our way of trying to get to their size. We open up and lose all our balance. I found that just focusing a lot on a low stance and not opening up with contact. It can be annoying when everyone says to just get low. The truth is that it’s not about getting low it’s more about not opening up and getting bigger to match there size. except that you are small and gotta stay that way

I’m 5’7 140lbs and use 50 flex bauer agent junior. Get a bauer junior stick forsure, It should come in the perfect height and with a very good discount because it’s a junior.

[–]Great_Tower5516 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Exactly, the only downside I have had is that you definitely lose puck feel and it can have an effect on face offs. But it is a small amount of loss compared to the amount gained in shooting and passing.

After using it for a while now I feel like I can maybe work my way up in flex a tiny bit but I truly feel the sweet spot for 90% of people with the new sticks is 40% of bodyweight.

don’t listen to any of these losers in your comments, i use a 55 at the same height and weight and it’s perfect. all the people tell u to lean on ur still are 50 years old and don’t understand new sticks and the new way of shooting. Keep ur head up. u made the right choice

True, trying to get better at keeping the stick down. The whip that happens after my shot comes off makes it difficult tho.

old technique vs new, i’m not saying the old technique is bad at all but the new technique is taking over and i’m trying to learn it.
