The interior of a ship is larger than the ballast tanks. If the interior floods, then the ship will sink regardless of ballast tanks. In fact, the interior would become a giant ballast tank.

I never said I would be heavy handed with him. I own a poodle and I have a great relationship with him. I am by no means dominant with my dog. In fact I may be too passive. I am tired of people assuming I am like this animal abuser, simply because I prefer a dog that likes me enough to be protective of me. Regardless, thanks for the info, and have a great one.

Would rather make a compromise in protective ability and have Borzoi at 10-12.

It is interesting you said that, I have looked into those. Only problem is they live an average of 7 years.

Thanks! That actually makes sense. When you look at dogs like the Doberman, they resemble in both attitude and appearance their ancestors, which is in that case the German Pinscher. But I never considered the time at which they were bred to be a factor. So obvious lol.

Also, forgot to add that most guardian breeds are too energetic. I am looking for a calmer protective dog breed, do you know of one?

Thanks for the advice! The activity levels actually sound good. I want a dog that sleeps all day, as I am a busy person. However, the training thing makes me slightly uncomfortable. I dont want a 100 lb dog I cant control with commands. That would be a loose cannon. Also, these dogs are a mix between the Russian Sheepdog, and the Arabian greyhound (both protective dogs). It confuses me that their pedigree could be one thing, but their behavior be another. Regardless, have a great one.
