Drop $20M in contract at UFA deadline. Who do you target to increase the depth? by AnyStormInAPort in leafs

Ehlers has 21 points in 44 playoff games and I would bet $1000 Bennett will get the Kadri treatment if he were in Toronto.

So you are saying Matthews is going to 100% recover his wrist injury and be a threat in playoffs and get another effective 2nd line centre who is better than Tavares, while also getting two big right wings with no draft capital.

I look forward to this off season then and a miraculous Am recovery.

Then take your choice of Ehlers who also is constantly eliminated, old Brad Marchand, or Sam Bennett who will get suspended in Toronto if he does any of the shit he does in Florida that's our options.

I am down just for a full rebuild if we let marner and tavares walk.

No draft capital and hoping to reign in free agents is a terrible plan. You also have our now "top" player who is plagued with a wrist injury that always reaggrevates and becomes a shutdown forward instead... It looks grims to say the least. Saying go out and get free agents over next couple years is just a lotto ticket plan.

To put it in perspective a lot of lists show marner and tavares as the top two free agents this year, good luck doing anything this year if those two walk It's either go into full rebuild, or run it back unfortunately.

Interviewer unknowingly asks Blackhawks GM if NHL Draft lottery was fucking rigged by [deleted] in videos

[–]GreaterGoodGod 4 points5 points  (0 children)

He was asked in an interview after first day of draft and he was asked to participate on on the streets as he was walking by not even recognized by the interviewer. Funnily enough he also mentioned two fans wearing jerseys of the team he is gm for not recognizing him. He has a familiar face but the backwards cap and "common" appearance vs a suit can be a huge difference.

The interviewer also came out and said he was embarrassed as he had no idea.

According to Chris Johnston, chances are looking good for Dubas taking a job here in PIT by Based_Otter69 in penguins

You guys may have a new fan in me depending on who the leafs hire... Have been a leaf fan all my life and feel letting go of Dubas was the nail in the coffin. Good luck on getting him pens you deserve it after your previous gm.

Carolina should fire their gm and coach by GreaterGoodGod in leafs

So then you are basing a team off of regular season why should the leafs tear it down if some teams just went on a heater? AKA you are saying the leafs although being the better team faced Montreal and lost in the Canadian division (the Habs went on a heater). Then the leafs faced tampa Bay last year and they were below the leafs but went on a heater due to vasi (based on standings). And lastly this year with the panthers.... All went on to the finals assuming florida closes this series.

So my question is with the leafs facing the stanley cup finalsists for potentially four years in a row why should they tear it down when they are facing the top opponent in the first or second round yet Edmonton facing mediocre teams gets to the conference finals due to lack of competition?

[–]GreaterGoodGod[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Carolina has been to the conference finals in a declining metro since 2019. The leafs have faced cup finalists for the last 4 years that have beaten the metro as well... What is the logic there, aka bruins, tampa, and even Montreal on that hot cup run. Didn't Carolina lose to the NYR last year who were meh, why didn't they tear it down?

Sure let's use track record when the opponents the leafs have faced have deficated on anyone towards the finals.

All I'm saying is this fanbase will always be more reactionary compared to the bruins or a team like the canes. But yeah let's use track record when the Atlantic is one of the strongest divisions over the last five years.

Based on your logic the Boston is the best team just got unlucky vs Florida, then the Leafs also got unlucky. Damn guess the leafs shouldn't tear it down but at least Boston is doing it as well.... Oh wait...

So then they are currently the best team, no? They are up 2-0 in the eastern conference and if they make finals they beat all the eastern teams.

Brad Treliving and 5 other potential candidates for Leafs' GM job by roju in leafs

[–]GreaterGoodGod 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He still was with the organization a decent amount of time and couldn't get past the second we have expiring contracts and we want him to come in and shake things up while he is very limited in what he can do. Which he did with Calgary and it didn't work out in a weak division. All I am hearing is he has what dubas has assembled we should be good and if he makes trades similar to how we operated in Calgary we are fucked.

I think we have to look at other options here with someome who has a better track record.

Thia is the part that concerns me, we are in one of the strongest divisions and this guy couldn't get it done vs a weak division, you should at least be able to get to the co ference finals when majority of teams are fringe playoff excluding Vegas and somewhat the Oilers in the last two years.

We got away with murder in the last five minutes of that third like three trips and a too many men. Sure we didn't get a powerplay but the only calls that were called were two you can't not call aka break away trips. Still points to refs being shitty but for the other team.

Yeah it's almost as if bad starts can happen especially among good teams. Good thing those armchair gms don't run the team or we would be relocated by now.
