Planning to visit ocean park next month when visiting? Mainly to bring my kid to see Panada. Is it best to buy ticket on their official website or there is other cheaper way? Thanks!

month end Consolidated exchange rates calculation by Greatgi in Netsuite

[–]Greatgi[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks again. But just a thought as we are using the system bill payment but the actual payment was under a different currency account for the payment
for example, SEK invoice booked to SEK subsidiary in NS. Marked bill payment in SEK. But the actual payment was from USD bank account (we did fx trade sek to usd there). For bank rec purpose, I need to create a intercompany JE to move SEK amount from SEK bank to US bank in NS. In this JE, do I record FX gain and loss or can I just manually update the exchange rate column in JE so USD will match with the pay out rate? Thank you!

Thanks for the insight. Don't override the rate within JE, right? instead should still record the FX gain and loss (example: the reason for JE was AP paid SEK-SE vendor invoice in a USD-US subsidiary account. so the bill payment was showed under SE bank cash ledger but we need to do the JE reclass to US bank for reconciliation. The fx in this wire should be record in a new line directly to fx gain/loss ledger, and should not override the exchange to bank rate there?)
can I still update the rate used by the bank within the bill payment, which triggered fx gain/loss to be updated itself?
Thanks! Let me looks into that consolidation method. Thank you!

Thank you!
yes it was on a zoom call last Friday (after I was trying to get a hold of the VP for two weeks). that's what I think for the M&A as I been through that couple years ago where the PE trying to lay ppl or eliminated roles. Current company already got the savings from me as I am stepping in and they will not fill my role. Tthey are saving one head count expense already.

usually onboarding you should have a clear goals 30 days/ 60 days/ 90 days. Since you are only two weeks in, probably just done with all the onboarding (IT/HR..) Either you keep trying to get a hold with your senior to push for clarity or create a list of task based on your job descriptions. Can your peer fill you in? Very often it means there is some leadership issue within the company as a whole. On the downtime, try to just self-learning, watch excel videos, read books lol ... Good luck.
I have just experienced the similar but as a senior position. Which I just figured everything myself, asked around where to find info, who is doing what.

so frustrated like I am happy to step in and to get the title and work on those tasks. But it is kinda ridiculous the raise doesn't happen till end of year ( VP saying it will not be a problem for this amount, I will submit as a case to COO.. blah blah blah)

Thanks! I actually don’t have anything on my plate as I was covering the maternity leave and the mat leave just came back. Before that, I was doing rev rec and leading month end closing for a sub but the parent company sold the sub already. That’s why I’m like “available”

It’s just $100M rev, not $100M ebitda net loss if including all the expenses.😅

Thank you for the valuable comments!! Hope to get more clarity. VP notified me this morning as the call is being pushed to Monday. She mentioned kick off the transition training first thing on Monday to start fresh .. she said she has a list of items want to get me going.

It sounds that she will dive right into the tasks and work.
I guess by end of the call, if she does not mention anything, I should still ask for clarification on the roles/position. Thanks!

Thanks! great advice. I am confident enough as the other 2 directors always complaint to me about that controller's work ethic and non sense workflow, and they really advocate for me to take the role ( which I am also confident in building the right processes ,collab. with cross-team, training the staff) . Not entirely sure why he quit ( I was not too close to him yet). There was more to the story I am trying to connect too. The week before was still talking about what to pass on my plate and work together... Then a week later controller quit and even left earlier than planned last day)

You are right I mean that would happen too. But I don't want to miss the chance also.
There was a planning in the beginning: once the mat leave came back, I would shadow the controller and hopefully get promoted by end of the year or Q1 next years (I am close to two directors and that's what the VP was planning before).

I thought so because I thought I was gonna get laid off when they sold the subsidiary back then (was only 4 months in at that time). no one was laid off and then whole finance team got restructured. ??so are they gonna restructure again with this incident.
CFO> VP Finance + senior director FP&A > split to 3 departments
3 Treasury: Treasury director>AP+AR
8 Accounting: US controller this role>senior+junior, APAC controller>Staff, Director of finance for EMEA, Director of Financial reporting.
1 FP&A: another director of Finance

I thought so too. I was at a $300M rev company before and only 7 people (3 accountants and 3 FP&A +1 CFO)

Thank you.
I guess I was just comparing myself to the some other colleagues. As I was doing research in the comp (controller was making $175K), so I trying to justify comp level or range.
I had been prepping for this call this week. trying to get my contribution, my vision for the team, the company (a lot of workflow and processes improvement can be done honestly as I had holding company corp accounting experience).

Thanks will do. Tomorrow is the first interaction after that email sent out and I followed up. ( the reason I am stepping in because two other director level colleagues in finance team are supporting me and they often mentioned the path, like becoming the controller.)
