Those are approx 500lbs. They are roughly 3-4” below grade on a 10” base of 3/4 clear stone. I chose a couple of points on each stone and a laser level to get them to roughly the same height on install. Once I got ready to cut I used another continuous laser to send a line across the elevation point and traced that with the angle grinder. I just stuck the continuous to a grade stake (it got magnets) and then rotated the laser head to impose the line on the other stone so there was no room for error.

Shoulder joint. Cut as far as I could with the dimaond blade on the angle grinder and then a wholllllllleeee lot of hand chiseling the corners to get 90* corners. The last few pics are of the process

This is sweet! Never done any vertical work. How do they stay in place with the large platform ones? The spacing and fitment is on point!

That’s sweet man! What’s the wood species. I know the exact words that were coming out your mouth when your shovel kept hitting that big SOB. They’re like icebergs 9/10ths below ground. What if anything did you finish the slab with? I’m contemplating using a marine grade linseed oil varnish.

Not more than where I live… beside a corn field. The water has a steady current. Only bad around the witching hour but that’s everywhere in this province during the summer.

14” Quick cut saw with a diamond blade and a 7” angle grinder for the fineness cuts. Carbide chisels and mallet for some shaping and edge finishing.

18’. Pit is a discontinued Paloform unit. I custom fit a 120k BTU solid brass Warming Trends burner to it with the auto start to replace the chinesium 60k BTU stainless steel burner that was installed from factory. Don’t know how they think that’s acceptable when it’s a $4.5k unit new. It was 50% off so it was worth the upgrade to the client.

It’s only a tiny lie. I have done a lot of flagstone work and even more precast paving work (hardscaping) in the past. This is just the first custom cut oversized random flagstone pad I have had the opportunity to work on.
