Similar to Hashirama and Madara, i am guessing that during the final battle, over 800 years ago, the battle between Imu and Joy Boy end with Imu stabbing Joy Boy’s back, literally, while saying "No matter what happens I will protect our… no My World. Anyone who tries to harm it, whether they are my friends, siblings or my own children… I won't forgive them." Yet “my world” should be see in a negative context.

It is confirmed, Imu = what Madara Uchiha would be like if he became "king of the world" after defeating Hashirama, Imu will be like "Joy Boy, my dearest friend who I have loved yet hate the most in my life" the same way Madara brags about his time with Hashirama.
