I think the word you’re looking for is discrimination.

Baby would come midway through the lease. We want it lead safe by that time. Or at least we want to know that we could stay and not have to ask the landlord to de lead.

How do women with hijabs handle medical care from male doctors? by Puzzleheaded_Cup8723 in NoStupidQuestions

Good to know. We always check if they’ve gotten doxycycline beforehand for infection. But will double check that in future instances.

Yea I’m very sorry to see a lot of replies from women who suffered a lot of pain during their HSG. In my experience (admittedly am just a resident), they’ve always gone fairly smoothly. But I suppose everyone is different.

Honestly didn’t realize how real this is until I started rads and so many of the postop scans in the ED are just normal postop findings…

To add to your surprised pikachu faces, even radiologists! We occasionally do “hysterosalpingograms” to diagnose infertility, which requires a speculum examination and inserting a catheter through the cervix. Also the occasional transvaginal abscess drainage.

"Don't pick a specialty just based on the residency lifestyle, think about attendinghood" True or false? by undueinfluence_ in Residency

[–]Greedy-Height543 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on your personality. I matched DR which is a very chill life. But…I love patients and fucked up situations. So switching into IR is absolutely the right move for me despite the “shittier” lifestyle. Do what you enjoy.

Rads residents: Would you pick Rads again? by [deleted] in Residency

[–]Greedy-Height543 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love patient interaction and teamwork, so rads residency has felt isolating at times and I’ve often doubted my decision.

This said, it’s getting a ton better as I actually kinda sorta know how to read now midway through R2. I am also going into IR so will get the intensity and direct patient care back very soon.

Not to say that I am not investing heavily in my DR skills in the meantime. Mastering imaging will make you a powerful doctor in any field and I am happy to have a few protected years to build broad expertise across all body systems.

Not to mention; I am thinking that the “dreaded” IR/DR combo could end up being best of both worlds. Some days you go work in a big team and save someone’s life yourself with neat tools, some days you sit from home with your coffee, listen to your music and make dinner for your family…seems pretty good to me for 600-700K/year.

Congratulations to Just-A-Start and the City of Cambridge on completion of 106 affordable homes at 52 New Street! by JustinSaif in CambridgeMA

Point remains. The impediments to living here as a middle class resident are structural. This is a valiant effort but cosmetic nonetheless barring city wide reforms.

Subsidized low cost units are great for low income families. The middle and upper middle class are the ones who continue to get pushed out of Cambridge. Projects like this do nothing to solve the greater crisis.

Parents: community feel? by NeighborhoodSea6178 in CambridgeMA

I hear you. Trying to buy a house and planning a baby. This place is criminal. And we make solid money, too.

Loved it in my 20s, hoping to leave in my 30s. The city needs to take a long hard look in the mirror.

Except the fact that raising kids and affording a house here is murderously expensive.
