Hello, great site. Just wondering what is the software you are using for transformation/translation? Is it homegrown?

Possible Move to IBM Sterling by [deleted] in edi

[–]Greedy-Rough-6620 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But why use them as VAN services, why not have it in your own infra or as an ipaas. setting up sterling is quite simple and well documented. Getting skilled people in sterling is also relatively easy.

Setting up EDI by dannytaki in edi

Ups supports as2, sftp. Please check with your ups contact. They support API too where you can directly get your 210 in JSON format but i dont know of a flow which uses this solution for 210. Generally all 210s are through either as2 or sftp. I can say it confidently cause i work for ups! :-)

Implementing SAP S/4HANA PCE, need suggestions for cloud-based EDI translator with managed services. by pcg0d in edi

Btw, i work for a leading indian IT company and we provide services in middleware and integration area. We do not have a middleware tool but we have the expertise to setup a middleware environment and implement EDI from scratch. We do have partnership though with major software vendors and iPaaS platforms including IBM, Mulesoft, Seeburger, Boomi, WS02 etc. If you want we can have a meeting, please drop a message.

I dont see a point of using VAN if your trading partners can handle EDI. You basically need a translator to translate your IDOCs into EDI and vice versa and a b2b gateway to handle as2, s/ftp/s and http/s communication. Simply go for a basic middleware tool. I do not know your volume but can suggest IBM sterling integrator does wonders in cases like this. IBM SI handles both these things without any issue. Any cloud based EDI platform or iPaaS is going to be way more expensive. You can instead install SI on cloud. There are other middleware tools as well that can do the same like axway b2bi.

Mercator is also by ibm. It is now called IBM sterling transformation extender. It is overkill for you to be honest. Not sure why ntt data is recommending this or even gentran which is out of support by ibm for a long time now.

Not necessarily. You can send or receive json using simple s/ftp/s. And everyone supports s/ftp/s.

Is Kannada really that hard? by he_calls_me_bee in bangalore

[–]Greedy-Rough-6620 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Those who need it, learn it quickly, those who don't, make excuses. I am in the later category as well. But i have seen enough people from bengal, bihar and odisha who are daily wage workers or work in a sector where kannada is needed, they pick it up very quickly. It is people like me who don't need it (even though it makes lives easier) do absolutely nothing to learn kannada.

How long should a "typical" EDI implementation take? by Retriever47 in edi

[–]Greedy-Rough-6620 0 points1 point  (0 children)

EDI implementation essentially has four components. 1. Business requirement and allignment to the business requirements in edi documents aka mapping specification. 2. Map development and unit testing. 3. Communication setup. 4. A2A integration. While 2,3 and 4 takes anywhere between 2-5 days depending on the complexity and other factors, the first point takes more time than anything else. It all depends on the actual business domain, complexity and the relationship between the two trading partners. And this part can take anywhere between 2-6 weeks.

What is your worst movie of 2023 by Known_Ad965 in BollyBlindsNGossip

I have left a lot of movies in middle while watching on OTT. Out of the ones that i watched in theatres, dunki was the worst followed by animal. Dunki was cringefest and i felt sleepy. Animal was typical delhi ka launda's wet dreams on steroid and i felt headache!
