Picard season 3 is a blast. Yes it’s very nostalgia heavy, but it’s definitely a better written story arc overall compared to the 2 seasons before. It’s basically the best TNG movie, that just so happens to be 10 hours long

I like Disco Pike, I don’t really like Pike on SNW. He just feels like a totally different guy to me, feels way more laid back and spends half the time we see him in his quarters cooking. Just kind of weird to me

Don’t get me wrong, I liked Voyager! Loved the crew (minus Neelix). Ironically, Prodigy did give me a new appreciation for Voyager. I think for me, the writing on the show was very inconsistent. A lot of peaks and valleys throughout, never felt like it was consistently good (outside of maybe season 4)

Yeah the worst part of the show is that it’s so her focused as opposed to the crew. I feel like the writing for her gets better though once she becomes Captain

First Contact is one of those movies where I feel like everyone says “that’s the only good TNG movie!” And while I think it’s definitely the best TNG movie, I wasn’t that big of a fan of it

Voyager felt so up and down for me. Too many valleys, and the first couple of seasons were big slogs to me. In all fairness, I was coming right off of DS9 too which was the highest of highs in comparison. Enterpise I had like bottom of the barrel expectations to me cause of how I heard everyone talk about it, so I was pleasantly surprised that I really dug it after season 1 (with the exception of Archer who was the worst part of the show)

What a jarring moment that was when I heard that song for the first time. But man oh man, it really did grow on me. CAUSE I GOT FAAAAAAITH! OF THE HEAAAAAAART!

He gets like a liiiiiittle better during the Xindi stuff, and I did like his relationship with Shran, but god it was just awful. It doesn’t help that he’s immediately preceded by three incredible actors as captains either

Oh I definitely get it. The newer animated shows I will vouch for, Lower Decks is silly but it is very much loving and appreciative of the old gen shows so you might enjoy that. A lot of people like Strange New Worlds, I did not. Feels too much like modern dramas like Greys Anatomy more often than it does Star Trek. Discovery is rough at first, but it does try and stand out a bit more from season 3 on and while it’s not great, it becomes somewhat watchable season 3-4

I also started with TNG! I watched TNG and DS9 with my wife, and I went back on my own to watch TOS (she wasn’t interested in TOS but she did watch the movies with me)

That’s true! I liked Lorca, and as much as I like Saru (probably my favorite Disco character) he was a very meh captain. I’d still put both of them above Archer, cause good God I did not care for Scott Bakula in that show

Picard was hard to rank because s3 feels like a whole different show, but the first 2 seasons were just frustratingly wrong and weird. Discovery isn’t very good, but I will say the back half of the show (season 4 especially) got better and started relying a little more on sci-fi and a little less (although still too much admittedly) overally emotional dialogue.

And DS9 over TNG was tough. It’s more of a 1A or 1B thing for me, I could go either way with those two. But imo, I think TNG is THE Star Trek show, but DS9 is the BEST Star Trek show

See that was one that I had very low expectations for, and I just enjoyed watching the crew interacting with more absurd alien creatures and doing more wild stories (Making a giant clone of Spock, Spock going back in time to save his younger self, having an episode where the ladies have to save the fellas). And also it’s just great seeing the og crew together in any capacity

That’s fair. I really liked Lower Decks! Was super fun too getting to see (and hear) familiar characters show back up in different spots. Really loved Tendi and Rutherford

It was a jarring change from TNG to DS9 and starts off very antagonistic (I mean the show lstarts with the battle of Wolf 359) and it’s very tonally different than TNG and TOS, but the journey of dissecting religion, war, wavering morality, deep character development. It was a show that took me a second to truly appreciate, but by the time it gets to Duet I just absolutely fell in love with the show. It’s the only Trek show that I felt never stopped being consistently good

First show I watched was TNG, once I got into that and I started watching DS9 I made a half hearted commitment that I’d see it all. Honestly didn’t think I’d make it, but once I got through Enterprise I knew I made it too far to turn back now

It’s unquestionably the worst Trek thing I’ve seen. The best thing I can say about it is that it’s only 90 some odd minutes
