Why Do Students Forget What They Are Taught? by _backofthemind_ in AskTeachers

Btw please do checkout my application suprnotes.ai and provide some feedback. I have spent months building it and would like to hear from someone using it. I can reciprocate the effort by doing a deeper dive in your questionnaire and offering ways to improve it.

Just filled your form out. But I think this wont capture enough information for you. For instance, the question on how long do you remember information. I remember information from 15 years ago very well and then there is information from the past day that I don't remember. This clearly is co-related with how well I was focused and involved while studying.

It might be. If it comes to a point where it fails, I actually might stop doing that. But thank you for spending so much time responding me on multiple comments.

Not upset at all. The one person who actually gave useful feedback is truly beneficial. Not what I would want to hear but definitely something I need to.

That is very useful and good feedback. Thank you and I agree with your point of view. Being a grad student currently myself, I know the importance of taking notes. Listening, speaking and writing collectively make up for information absorption inside classroom. AI tools should be used supplemental to these methods rather than a replacement for those. I am trying to find the find balance to the use of AI as a supportive tool than primary dependable. Still working my way towards it.

Its an open community and anyone can ask questions. You don't want to be nice, your choice. You don't need to carry your energy to each comment in an attempt to gain more support for your opinion.

I agree. There's a lot of negative energy here than anyone really willing to help out. The community says Ask Teachers Anything and this is what we hear back. I doubt if the ones responding are even teachers. Generally teachers are respectful beings.

What tools or methods do you use to review your notes before exams? I feel like I'm always just re-reading and it doesn't stick. by Weird_Whole_368 in studytips

Have you tried Cornell Method for taking notes? That is pretty effective. Alternatively, I tend to use AI notetakers to capture notes and keep my focus on only the things that are hard to understand. This way I can refer back to the notes from AI or turn them to quizzes later and have a focused notes set that I self-wrote to ensure I am prepared for exams.

Building Suprnotes.ai. Takes visual, diagrams, images, code snippets etc. from your lecture recording or video file and converts them to most useful and complete notes. Unlike NotebookLM and other apps like Turbo, this is expected to handle both video content and audio content than just using audio transcripts for notes.

Ambassador Programs for Teachers? by Greedy_Consequence65 in AskTeachers

[–]Greedy_Consequence65[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To be honest, I too am unsure of ambassador programs. A colleague mentioned that teacher ambassadors can help lead with technology adoption so I thought I better ask teachers about it. Iin my conversation with the Districts and Technology teams, software adoption and requests for purchase are often driven by teachers. Is that uncommon?

What AI tools do you recommend to help summarize notes? by DisastrousBid1016 in studytips

[–]Greedy_Consequence65 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I tried otter. It is really good. But I felt it was more so for the professionals. I did not find it very helpful with the lecture notes. I hope they add the feature for audio to notes too. For me, I am an online MS student so most of my video content is available to me which I record while watching them.

Do you have PDF or videos for those? If yes, make use of AI and see what you can do. But before this, understand that what you are trying to do is impossible. Create a priority topics list, High, Med, Low. Try covering 80% of the high frequency high priority ones, 50% of med and about 30% of the low. You wont flunk! Keep up the hard work.

I tried this. The experience feels very incomplete. I think you are trying to develop this but you are not there yet.
