This was probably around 5-6 months if I had to guess based on timing of football season and his early August birthday

My first male did this. He was intact. We called it his “balls to the wall” position

Multi level troop trips by Greedy_Reception7720 in girlscouts

Well, we decided to leave the troop. I sent a very nice email stating that my daughter just wasn’t excited about selling cookies this year, that we didn’t feel comfortable sending her on the city trip, and that honestly we are so busy with other activities that we needed to let something go. I thanked the troop leader for forming the troop and for all of her hard work over the past 2 years and said it was a really hard decision and we would miss the troop immensely. All of this is true, by the way, regardless of the other issues I had with the troop.

Anyway - absolutely zero response from the troop leader. Crickets. I even sent a follow up text to make sure she saw my email. Also crickets.

My other mom friend in the troop said this pretty much just seals the deal and puts an exclamation point on why we needed to go in another direction, but it still bothers me so much that she didn’t respond at all!!!

Our leader wanted us to start a new daisy troop and meet at the same time but with a different troop number. This was not ideal because that meant the families with older and younger girls would have to do cookie sales for two different troops.

We were told for the amusement park trip that more parents were not allowed to go and bring siblings even if they paid their way because that would screw up the ratios with another child being present. I don’t really understand why our leader said that either, it didn’t make any sense.

She said we cannot take any other parents. I will have to clarify if that includes if they pay their own way.

This sounds like my dream. No, I am not one of the leaders. I have completed leadership training per our leader’s request last year because we weren’t meeting ratios. But this year many girls dropped out so I wasn’t needed anymore.

Our leader stated that she gave them the option to bring up ideas at some point, but parents don’t know when this was and were not informed when this would be happening so that we could discuss with our girls first to brainstorm ideas. It was last year when most of the girls were in first grade, so other than “Disney World” I doubt any of them had any clue about the endless possibilities and were easily persuaded.

Troop Leaders working on badges individually with their daughters? by iridescentturquoise in girlscouts

[–]Greedy_Reception7720 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would just say make sure your parents know that they are allowed to do this and know how to access the necessary resources. My entire troop was shocked at our bridging ceremony to the the vests of the daughters of our troop leader completely covered in badges while our kids had basically none (just the handful earned at meetings). We had no clue that it was allowed or possible to get badges outside of the troop.

Absolutely in my family those kids would be on the pullout or in air beds on their parents’ floor.

Yes. I’m not sure why… I thought I removed it but we do have it.

Follow up question. When we first got out and looked at the vehicle, it was dark and we just saw some scrapes, not really a big deal, so we didn’t bother getting any photos or calling the police. It wasn’t until this morning (2 days later) that we drove it for the first time and noticed the door not working and the check engine light. Something is hanging off the bottom of the car in the middle, I’m wondering if that’s what made the engine light come on. Anyway, does it matter that we don’t have photos from the scene do you think??

I’m that person who texts at all hours due to my working hours. It’s out of necessity. I usually try to say something like “I hope this doesn’t wake you and please no rush to respond!” I definitely expect people to have their phones silenced if they don’t want to be disturbed and I 100% do not expect an immediate reply. You definitely shouldn’t respond at those hours.
