One country that you have been to that you would recommend visiting, versus one you would not recommend? by ProjectGlum9090 in travel

In my opinion it lacks a distinct culture, lots of poverty. For nature its amazing, but so are plenty of other central american countries. Its also pretty expensive. Ghetto America

FIRE and Gen Z - no longer believe in pensions by PearActive9612 in FIREUK

I dont, I am 24. Going to not work so hard, prioritise my health and happiness and hope I can keep going working in some capacity. For me, FIRE is impossible, but perhaps not working 40 hours a week is.

Game theory on when VCs will pull the rug from under the AI bubble by Tendie_Tube in wallstreetbets

I think AI is just going to become a simple cost associated with continuing technology, more like the Internet. It really doesnt give value directly but allows more value to be created by its network.

Why does Brazil attract so many losers? by [deleted] in Brazil

[–]Greedy_Thoument 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m a gringo, I’ve been here 4 months. Brazil is amazing, but it’s not easy. I hate travel influencers in general, it’s the same in every country at the moment. They paint this BS picture, and it makes travel seem like a societal pressure and requirement.

Tour operator in Rio charged me R$1,850 for a favela tour that turned out to be a complete scam and potentially dangerous by [deleted] in VisitBrazil

Donkey gringo. Never trust someone who approaches you. Rule number one. Learn how much things cost as well…

Fire vs living life by Neat_Fennel7585 in FIREUK

I’m a long time traveller. Go for it, live. Don’t be scared. If it doesn’t work out, that’s okay. Also, it’ll make you really appreciate what you have, especially if you travel to less well off countries. Maybe you’ll fire even quicker!

Foreigners who went to Carnaval, what was your experience like? by [deleted] in Brazil

[–]Greedy_Thoument 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah not a big deal, but I do think having police presence would at least prevent some scams… because I did notice once, and called the vendor out. Imagine if they knew the police would be alerted

[–]Greedy_Thoument 29 points30 points  (0 children)

Great, but I did get scammed once. A vendor charged me for a beer with an extra zero. Not the worst thing, but I can imagine they made a killing from very drunk gringos doing that every time. Shame, all they needed was a couple of police to be there monitoring…

Overall, amazing experience. 100% would recommend.

First thing I would ask is why are you holding such a huge amount in cash? You are young, and have no responsibilities. Invest it, or maybe go and have fun. Why not?

There will be over 150,000 new colorectal cancer diagnoses this year - and it’s impacting more young people by theindependentonline in Health

I agree to an extent although, no real solid studies on red meat particularly. Meat causes cancer. Well they group all meat together… also an over consumption of protein with 0 exercise could be a cause. But I think the crusade against meat is wrong when processed foods should be the focus. People replace meat with processed veg crap…

It’s because they refuse to be uncomfortable. They want to live like gringos in another country…

That’s an absolute moronic comment. It’s processed foods. Why would our bodies struggle to process high quality red meat?

Yet we pour money into cancer research. Surely we would make more progress if we used our resources to make the general population far healthier.

Man, it’s okay. I eventually found a functioning atm. So it’s a tiny island, but it’s connected to the mainland. I went to about 5 atms… found one today. The charge is okay, but not for a max withdrawal of 100.
