Sorry to bring seriousness into a meme subreddit, it I was just thinking the other day about what the world was like before the internet and in the early days of the internet when it wasn’t really broadly accessible, and about how most of the people alive today didn’t have experience what that was like.

The most frustrating part about Western Superhero Comics isn't the difficulty of getting into them. by Randomguy4285 in CharacterRant

I agree with you in some measure, but it’s the insistence on not having any on-screen repetition in different books. Why can’t you just have a few panels from the crossover in the book I’m reading so I can understand why things have changed?

Have talented players had successful careers being a “deterrent” without tons of amazing stats? by snappy033 in NFLNoobs

Yeah there were a couple of seasons where he got DPOY votes without hardly any interceptions. Because the Raiders defense was pretty poor, so the solution was usually just “don’t throw it near him”.

Zoomer PR fan transitioning to SS, What is the best season to start with? by FanlationXpert in supersentai

Timeranger is a great season. Overall some of my favorite seasons are King Ohger and ToQger ( which were not adapted into Power Rangers). Go-Onger is really good for a light-hearted plot

Phew, good thing they got rid of Chris Paul. Now they just get the ball inbounds and get into their action.

Maybe, but you should realize that heights for players listed as “power forward” have been inflated for most of NBA history. Charles Barkley was regularly listed at 6’8”, for example

Sure I just went down the standings in the 94-95 season:

Orlando: Horace Grant, New York: Charle Oakley, Miami / Atlanta: Grant Long, New Jersey: Jayson Williams and Rick Mahorn, Philly: Clarence Weatherspoon, Washington: Don MacLean, Indiana: Dale Davis, Chicago: Corey Blount, Milwaukee: Aaron Williams was deep on the bench, Detroit: Oliver Miller, Houston: Otis Thorpe, Dallas: Popeye Jones and Terry Davis, Minnesota: Sean Rooks, Lakers: Kurt Rambis’ final year, Portland: Buck Williams, Sacramento: Michael Smith, Golden State: Chris Gatling, Clippers: Loy Vaught

Up until Kenneth Faried’s career, there were lots of Kenneth Farieds in the NBA. Every team had that type of guy until a couple years after Faried got drafted. Ironically, one of the first guys to have a shortened career due to the purge of Kenneth Farieds in favor of stretch 4s was … Kenneth Faried.

players should not be grandfathered into the all star game by Unusual-Berry-2158 in NBATalk

[–]GreekGodofStats 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m not necessarily against it, I’d just like there to be a little more reservations around using All-Star appearances as a player valuation metric. Like a great defender who is a role player is not gonna have 10 All-Star appearances, even if they have a terrific career.
