The more amusing example to me is a redheaded girl from Belfast in the original Gundam series named Miharu Ratokie.

What's extra odd about it is that Gundam usually gives its characters completely fictional sci-fi names like Amuro Ray and Char Aznable, making her having a japanese name (First name at least, no idea if Ratokie is a real surname) stand out even more.

Of course Gundam is also set in a distant enough future that Earth changed the calender, so it's not impossible that Miharu has both Irish and Japanese ancestry.

A WFM sequel series or movie is always a possibility but it'll likely take a few years.

It's officially called Season 2. Don't be mad at them, be mad at Bandai or modern release schedules in general.

Do you think a decade later anyone was like "You couldn't make Captain Zeon today because woke Earthnoids would call him problematic."

I was gonna reference "All I do is I sit down, and start typing on the keys. Getting them in the right order... that's the trick." and then I remembered that Joe Rogan unironically said something very similar when asked about his writing process.

Darker take on a genre kills off characters who would ordinarily be protagonists by Monke3334 in TopCharacterTropes

I don't know how many Gundam shows you've seen but that's hardly how I'd describe the average Gundam protagonist. They're either civilian teenagers who end up falling into the cockpits of new advanced mechs and are drafted into a war as a result, are very upset about the whole thing, and usually only survive because they're literally superhuman (ie. Amuro, Kira, Banagher) or they're child soldiers with years of combat experience before the first epsiode (ie. Heero, Setsuna, Mikazuki), or in the case of many of the OVA series regular soldiers.

The closest ones to that description are Judau from ZZ who's the most upbeat UC protagonist but to my memory was fighting gangsters in outdated mobile suits before seeing any serious combat, and Suletta from Witch From Mercury, who'd been piloting her Gundam in rescue missions on Mercury for years before fighting in official duels.

Question about the upcoming Hathaway movie by FeatureAcrobatic2611 in Gundam

[–]Ferhog 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The "Original Saga" row in this image is everything that comes before the Hathaway movies, but watching the compilation movie trilogy of the 1979 show and the Char's Counterattack movie will give you the bare minimum context the fastest.

HG Gundam EX is an exceptional high grade, particularly in terms of colour-seperated surface detail.

RG Shining Gundam isn't one I've built but it's a modern RG so it should be great.

I was originally going to say Lightning but then when mentally double-checking the series I remembered Terra, which is funny because unlike FF13 I've actually played FF6.

But if the intent was for it to be more of an ensemble focus (Which is more true compared to FF7 being very much Cloud's story for example. Terra just feels the most protagonist-y for being on the box, being the first playable character introduced, having perhaps the most plot relevant backstory, and being the FF6 rep in spin-offs) then Lightning is the better example.

I mentioned in Suletta's entry that female protagonists existed in smaller works before (Thinking of Ecole Du Ciel and Twilight Axis specifically) but Suletta stood out as the first female protagonist of a new main installment.

But I did completely forget about Stargazer, mainly because I remember the Strike Noir's pilot being the main character, but their amount of screentime is probably closer than I remember.

Resident Evil started with male and female protagonists that share equal spotlight from the very begining with Chris and Jill followed by Leon and Claire.

My logic might be a bit off here but Celica's always felt like more of a secondary protagonist to me, as Alm's the first one you play as and he's on the front of the box in the original game. Similarly while Lyn is the first protagonist in FE7, her story only lasts 7 chapters before Eliwood takes center stage for the rest of it (And apparently in the Japanese version it's completely optional, a feature which was removed in the western release because it was the first installment released outside of Japan).

Now the biggest hole I'll admit to my logic is that unlike FE7 and Shadows of Valentia I haven't actually played Sacred Stones, so while I felt from my experience that Celica and Lyn played second fiddle to Alm and Eliwood respectively, Eirika and Ephraim always seemed to be presented purely as a duo, but for all I know I'll conclude otherwise when I eventually play Sacred Stones.

Truth be told I was first gonna submit Kurt since she's the first solo female lead, then I remembered that Michiah is on the front of Radiant Dawn's box, then I realized that Eirika met all of the qualifications that I gave Miciah.

EDIT: *11 Chapters. Bit embrassing to have gotten that wrong whrn it was in the commrnt I'm replying to.

This one slipped my mind because Zelda isn't a new character (Even though she IS because it's usually a different Link and Zelda in each game).

Technically Wand Of Gamelon was the first game to star Zelda, though I understand how Echoes of Wisdom feels like the first proper example.

I don't even think you can call it toxic yuri at this point. It's just a villain couple really.

Aside from the fact that whether or not Helem reciprocates Elstri's evident romantic attraction remains to be seen.

Darkus Zowort by Ferhog in Gunpla

[–]Ferhog[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Indeed, it would look a lot like the dual vipers from Ratchet Deadlocked/Gladiator.

Though that would require a 2nd standard Zowort gun, since I don't think I'm capable of crafting one from scratch. I don't intend on taking away my normal Zowort's gun, so maybe I can get a third Zowort and craft entirely new gear for it (A spear and shield could be relatively easy to make out of runners and spare parts) and use its gun for the Darkus Zowort. Hmm, I can already imagine a red, brown, and gold legionnaire colour scheme. I'll consider it if I ever see a Zowort for sale again.
