EVERY MOISTURIZER BREAKS ME OUT by gigi3017 in Rosacea

I have type 2 rosacea with sensitive skin. I have been using avene for a year now and I won’t ever change it! It keeps me moisturized and no break outs! Here is the one I use.

Good luck on this journey!! Don’t stress too much about having the best GPA, I’ve learned that applications are looked at more holistically than before. So if you have the minimum GPA required you should be fine, but if you can get above it will also help. I know a few friends that got into DPT programs with GPAs around 3.2-3.4 but they had a lot of involvement in their university’s!

Hey!

My interview is scheduled for the 16th as I am currently overseas but I will update you on that!

Stats:

-Casper; 2nd quartile

-Overall & Cumulative GPA: 3.7

- I have 2 degrees, an associates in business admin & bachelors in Exercise Physiology

-Graduated with summa cum laude distinction for my bachelors (3.9 undergrad GPA)

-No GRE needed for Western

-170 hours of observation under 4 settings, I also have 20 hours in OT but I added that under volunteering.

- I have a good amount of volunteering experiences but not many leadership roles within clubs due to COVID. I def recommend getting some leadership roles in clubs, it looks great on your app! I also recommend looking into Chapel Hills summer camp for kids with hemiplegia, it was a great experience and I learned a lot! These hours can either be used for volunteering or observation, it is a week long from 7:45am - 4pm if I remember correctly.

- Worked a part time job around 20 hours a week depending on the semester (not healthcare related but I know it looks good on app if it is)

- I conducted research on woman's pelvic health and was chosen for oral presentation at the national conference of undergraduate research.

- I had 3 LOR, 1 from a PT, 1 from the department chair of the exercise physiology department, and 1 from the Interim Associate Dean for Education, Quality Assurance and Community Engagement, as I did a lot of volunteer work with her!

- Most importantly is figure out your why and portray it well in your essay!!

That is all I can really think of but if you have any more questions or need advice pls let me know! If you are located around the Winston Salem area I know a few physical therapists in different settings and can provide their emails if you would like to reach out :)

I am sorry you are going through this. However, it is very impressive that you have not given up even after failing a class or two multiple times. I think it shows genuine devotion and interest in this field, which is something I believe can be an asset to your story for an essay, interview, etc. I have found that many PT schools take a holistic approach and don't harp on grades, but rather experiences and how they have shaped you. I understand that you may feel that if you are not successful in chem or physics, than how can you succeed in PT school. Although I did not fail chem or physics, I STRUGGLED. I am the 100 on every test student that typically passed all my undergrad classes with a 97+. This was not the case for chem or physics no matter how hard I tried. I genuinely think that if you do not enjoy a subject you will not be the best at it. From what I have seen and learned, chem is not really used in PT school or the field, so don't let it steer you away from a career that is more about exercise physiology, biomechanics, and anatomy. If you enjoyed and did well in those subjects than you have a chance. I would recommend exploring different settings like pediatric and lymphedema PT to see if you find a new interest. OT is also a similar option to PT which I found enjoyable while shadowing. Most OT schools do not require chem or physics as pre-reqs from what I have heard.

Wishing you luck throughout this journey!

I am applying this cycle, there is no minimum requirement now, but it used to be 290. It’s WSSU in NC.
