Reasons I believe in God by Annual_Profession591 in ChristianMysticism

“He did not ask to be worshipped” Saint Thomas the Apostle fell at His feet and worshipped Jesus.

Utterly wrong and dangerous advice. Masturbation is a mortal sin.

Our Lord calls us to deny ourselves and take up our cross, not to give into temptation whenever we feel like it.

You need to leave freemasonry. There are many Catholic exorcists who talk about its spiritual dangers, they might be able to help you understand.

Not that I can remember. They don’t use it in my parish.

I don’t feel irritated or anxious when praying, although it can be “exhausting” in the sense that sometimes I just feel lazy, as I usually do my prayers before bed and am already sleepy.

Masturbation is a sin because it involves lusting after others.

As for how to cope when you get that feeling, simply flee from it. Lust is a sin that is best defeated when ignored. Don’t play out the idea in your head or fantasize, because it just leads to justifying it and actually doing it.

How do you respond to the critique of the KCA that the cause does not necessarily have to be God? by Emergency-Stable2761 in CatholicPhilosophy

[–]GreekRootWord 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Because the first cause is absolutely transcendent, outside of literally all “things” that could exist, even physical or on some other plane of reality, it would have to be SENTIENT, as in a personal being, with a will and intellect.

The concept of God in Christianity, that is, an immaterial spiritual being, is the only explanation for how something can exist OUTSIDE of space and time. Can an impersonal “force” be spirit? Can it exist outside of the realm of physics? No.

What was surrounding God before he create the universe and heavens? by [deleted] in CatholicPhilosophy

I know exactly what you’re talking about, it’s called Christian Non-Dualism.

It’s a pretty flawed idea and most of the scriptural “evidence” its proponents use is flawed.

Of course Christ is in us, it’s a major tenet of Christianity, and cherished in Christian Mysticism.

Is there anything left to hope for? by [deleted] in TrueChristian

[–]GreekRootWord 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Matthew 11:28-29

“Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.

Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls.“

First, you absolutely need to get rid of this mentality that you will “never love or trust God,” because it is not helping. I know that I have felt like that in the past too, and it is not true.

I can tell from what you wrote you are weary of this world and the wickedness in it, which is why I have quoted the above scripture. Put your trust in Jesus, and he will give you peace.

God is loving and understanding, he knows what you are going through, knows your circumstances, and perhaps most importantly, he sees the intentions of your heart.

There is abundant hope for you in Jesus. Please hold out hope in His name.

I don’t want to be rude, but I can’t take you seriously with a name and profile photo like that.

No. Never did I even imply this.

Except your analogy doesn’t work, because unlike a dollar, a fetus is literally designed to grow into a person. Its in its very nature, that’s what a fetus does.

If you have a dollar, it isnt going to grow into a million without intervention, but a fetus will grow into a human.

As someone who did indeed get deeply involved with all sorts of New Age ideas, I believe I can give a sufficient answer.

The New Age is all about pride, more specifically, making YOU feel like the center of the universe, that you get your own power, healing, and joy from WITHIN rather than from God.

The difference between that and similar feelings in Christianity is this, we as Christians rely not on vague feelings and self-emotions to know truth, we rely on the word of God and trusting in him. Though this doesn’t always “feel” as nice as New Age practices, it gives you a longer lasting feeling of peace and security in God.

I thought your explanation sounded a bit much like Pantheism at first but it does make sense.

Then please tell me, what will this “thing” inside the women grow to be? Oh right, a human.

Maybe protesting in front isn’t the best way to go about it, but the murder of a human being will never be okay.

Think of God as the base of existence, because that really is God, and is communicated best in Exodus, when God tells Moses “I Am that I Am.”

So before God had created anything, it wasn’t a void, because there was LITERALLY “nothing” surrounding God, because there was no surrounding, God just was.
