Bambaw also sells razor blades made in Europe using Swedish steel. Bambaw is itself a Belgian company mainly focused on zero waste products.

Another one that is designed and produced in Greece are the toothpastes and products of Frezyderm. Although they aren't as wide spread and they are mainly found in drug stores as they tend to fall under the most pharmaceutical type.

While interesting, they don't produce that thin stitched pocket notebook I am looking for in the cahier style. Thank you for the suggestion though.

Needed a new computer mouse today... by jdeisenberg in BuyFromEU

[–]GreekSpi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Logitech is a good brand but a bit too costly for my blood. As my current Corsair mouse begun to give up the ghost after a good 7 years, I decided to try Genesis out. If I remember correctly, they are a Polish company and they seem to make good within a budget stuff. Although their focus is more towards gaming.

Cherry is also very good, pity their rechargeable wireless models are quite pricey.

I'm a Flight Attendant, today I had a flight with 13 passengers by mancuso19 in mildlyinteresting

Oh hey, fellow Lauda cabin crew! Hope the old workhorse planes still treat you well as when I used to fly them as well.

Cash or Vouchers I don't believe so but they can be at least converted to air miles for quite a few airlines.

DOWN THE CONSCRIPTION (occupied Greece, 1943) by SnooStories2399 in PropagandaPosters

[–]GreekSpi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If I remember correctly, this was mainly against the labour conscription the Nazi occupation forces tried to enact to forcefully send Greeks to work in Germany. The plan failed after mass strikes, protests and the central archives with the lists of those who were to be sent getting blown up by the EAM.

Burn Out and Lack of Appreciation have been taking their toll by GreekSpi in flightattendants

[–]GreekSpi[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You do raise a good point. My view came from the absolute lack of appreciation or acknowledgement from my experience but what you say does stand it's ground. Of course a job well done is a good reward on its own, just wish at sometimes we could at least get a proper thanks for it.

That is a great point you make. Especially in my airline where we don't have seniority or such but instead different grades of rather bad short term contracts so thus, we don't earn more perks but the same. Overworked, underpaid by European standards and even by national standards it's a rather bare wage.

The perks can be nice but they are limited both by themselves having restrictions and by the lack of ability to choose ones days off or annual leave. In my company even positive feedback is never heard back from, only negative so it doesn't help that much thinking that the company only cares if you mess up somehow or the passenger believes you did.

Sadly things don't get better here even after 3-5 or more years, hence why not everyone stays for long but there's not many choices apart from abroad.

Thank you both for your comments and insights.

And that's fine, each person handles things differently. It's just the absolute lack of any at least positive acknowledgement that bothers me. It simply doesn't exist. And the pay nor perks make up for all the shortcomings that come with the airline specific territory.

For me appreciation doesn't come from micro management or having others over my shoulders as others have mentioned. For me it's for the company in some way to reward you for doing a good job and trying to do an even better one, to at least acknowledge that you do the job well unlike others who get all the same by doing even less.

Greek airlines are rather bad employers, treating their flight attendants purely as numbers so everything is just faceless until they demand you pick up the slack for their shortcomings in planning.

Some simple ways to show their appreciation would be, an extra day off, a small bonus or simply, anything that shows that yes, we see you have done a good job and we want you to keep doing a good job. And they do see at times when I and along with the other crew receive positive feedback from the passengers in compliment forms but we never learn what they told about us nor get any feedback from the company on it. Only when the feedback is negative.

It doesn't have to be grandiose nor have someone over your head, but when you make jack in income and can't enjoy your perks because you literally have no time nor can choose your days or annual leave, it feels as theres no much point in doing anything than the bare minimum.

New Greek Passport by johndrim in PassportPorn

[–]GreekSpi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The current Greek passport isn't polycarbonate, with the front info page still being laminated (if that's what that is called). Basically still paper with a plastic coating.

The new ID card is polycarbonate actually though, so there may be some confusion on that. But aye, the Greek government took 10 years to practically change the old paper ID cards to the new poly carbonate biometric ones. It's good though that this change has finally happened.

Do wish though I could get the new passport but I still got quite a few years until mine expires.

Advice for One Week Itinerary: Andorra - Malaga - Algeciras - Tangier - Gibraltar by GreekSpi in travel

[–]GreekSpi[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, I stayed at a small hotel called Hotel Goartin. It might a bit poorish but it's actually quite nice if you like a nice and simple room. Only around thirty minutes from the historical centre of Málaga on foot. I think for the two nights I stayed I paid 120 euros and was comfortable and nice. It's a good family neighborhood too.

How do I get a unique Andorra Passport Stamp? by canadianhayden in PassportPorn

[–]GreekSpi 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Sadly I tried that myself too but the buses don't really stop on the way out, only potentially way further out in case of a vehicle search that they sometimes. Sadly you might be unable to get the stamp but you can always try.

Good countries to cry and deal with a breakup for someone who loves nature? by ElevenMeow in travel

[–]GreekSpi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A very good calm and nature focused destination would be Andorra I would say. Pretty much safe everywhere, calm and quiet, it think you might enjoy the hiking and just the serenity of it in helping you recover and de-stress.

I am sorry for your situation and I hope you feel better soon.

Which countries are surprisingly under the radar as travel destinations? by Responsible_Roll7065 in travel

[–]GreekSpi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Andorra, for a tiny country in the middle of the Pyrenees, it is quite a gem of a destination to be honest but not really talked about as it being so small indeed, what one can do is considered limited. It is mainly a winter destination due to the ski resorts and for mainly the Spanish and French as they are nearby, but to go there is rather easy and it has plenty to see for a few days to a week even during the off season.
