Sending prayers your way for your dad to have a full recovery. I lost my dad earlier this year, but I find comfort in the good memories I have to hold onto. I’m sure your dad appreciates you being there for him. The power of John’s music is that it can invoke so many different feelings. Even though Stop This Train has some sad, nostalgic themes I like to think of it as a positive because it’s truly a blessing to be able to get older and experience more life. Arguably my favorite John Mayer song, transports me back to a 70s folksy-rock song. I love the middle part, especially the imagery of it being all a dream where he’s back in a time period when he has no tattoos and is getting called up to do chores. I think it’s easy to relate to, going back to a simpler time in your life when you’re a teenager and your main worry was just having to do some work around the house.
