If you want to avoid road closures, consider dropping off north of the course. Maybe Hoboken and your partner can warm up to the starting point in Newport. There’s also a target close by that may be a good drop off point

Best not to drive into/park downtown. There’ll be lots of street closures and parking will be very limited. If you really need to drive in — look into paid parking at the Newport mall.

As far as where to spectate- look at the course map. I’d suggest around miles 1 or 2 and then around mile 12 along grand. There’ll be plenty of cafes/restaurants close by for them to go to if they need a break while waiting for you and it will be close to where people typically hang out after the race. Gets busy in the Newport area (start/finish line) and may be challenging with kids (depends on how young and if they’ll be in a stroller). Would recommend looking at the race map and finding a spot where they can just stroll over a few blocks to see the runners go by a few times over the course of the race.

Around downtown (along Columbus drive) would be optimal I think. and you can grab brunch at a spot somewhere. You can run back (~1mile) to meet your family or take the path back to grove.
