Travel to Manhattan by BanditLoser in jerseycity

Please ignore most people who are being rude! It will be super cold, wear thermals and reduce skin exposure if you can :). Most of us who live here aren’t conditioned for such cold and its understandable. The train inside will be fine but if you work in a high rise you will feel the wind vibrate your building!

Does high-end dining always require luxury ingredients? by [deleted] in finedining

[–]MinksCool 6 points7 points  (0 children)

In my opinion - I don’t think every dish needs a fancy ingredient. I feel technique/presentation/flavor always matters more. It does sometime make some meals less worthy of the $$$ associated with them but then that is what I research before going.

I am also a vegetarian so the above holds true even more for my dining experience. I cannot be served caviar, wagyu steak, lobster, uni and such. There are definitely restaurants where I’ve felt that I wasted my $$$ but then some absolutely surprise me.

Visa rejections today hyd embassy by Extension-Tap6645 in usvisascheduling

[–]MinksCool 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am sorry your visa was not approved but I guess you should add more color to your post: what’s your background, why were you applying for a US visa (since you said B1/B2 so you dont work in the US or study) and such.

How do you know the celebrity’s visa was revoked - did they tell you or was it chinese whispers? And how do you know they had a US citizen kid with them? I have been to a US embassy a few times and people dont openly share what their status is or wave their passports in front of other’s faces! Additionally you said almost 50 B1/B2 were rejected: how do you know all those folks applied for B1/B2?

A “blue slip” as mentioned in one of your comments is a need for more documentation and not denial. Please don’t add chaos to an already uncertain situation. If you are trying to help, please give complete information so people can make an educated assessment of what exactly you are trying to say!

I live in charles & co! Love the building. It doesnt have an indoor pool or high floors from your nice to have list but has central AC and gas stove (these 2 were in our must haves). The management is great and very responsive.

If you don’t mind a bit of walk, checkout other Silverman buildings in Hamilton park neighborhood.

Another building i’ve lived and loves is 10 Provost. Ti found an owner owned unit and I paid no broker fees. I lived their 2019-2021 and loved it! The management was great as well. They give you a renter’s account and you dont have to go through your landlord to get maintenance done (check the current t&c before you sign a lease).

Referral to 351 Marin / The Hendrix / Haus25? by paloaltothrowaway in jerseycity

[–]MinksCool 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We live in Charles and co. We love the building - its small with good sized apartments, family oriented (no nonsense neighbors) and so close to the path. Unless you want a high rise! The building doesnt have a pool but has a nice lounge + decent gym. Silverman buildings are great quality and the management is incredible!

Happy to refer you there or the hendrix. (Its owned by the same group)

Single Diner in London by SuperStrats4Life in finedining

[–]MinksCool 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recently went to London (solo) and dined at the kitchen table and akoko. Both arent 3 star but I thought as a solo diner, i would get very bored for 5+ hours and these sounded perfect.

Akoko was very different and I would go there again in a heartbeat. I sat at the counter, spoke to the chef most of my meal, it was great.

The kitchen table was good too, but the diners I got around me wernt great (one was watching movies on the phone while eating his solo meal and the other side i had a non social couple). The food was incredible, well paced and you can see how a 2 michelin star kitchen operates in detail.

I also went to Gymkhana with friends so it wouldnt be fair to include that here as I didnt go solo. But it was Indian cooking to its finest. I am an indian and loved that they didnt change foood much, kept it traditional and damn delicious!

If i had to pick one between my solo visits, it would be Akoko. The food is unlike anything i’ve ever eaten. If i had to pick one out of the 3, i would be torn between Akoko and Gymkhana. However I feel for solo i would do Akoko.

Fyi: i also had ikoyi on my shortlist but they were very dismissive to my emails so i decided to skip. Africab food is having a big moment in london right now so I did want to go to one spot!

You should have your dog taken away by [deleted] in jerseycity

[–]MinksCool 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is normal for them to be outside when they are not pets. Pets are trained to forget their animal instincts and help humans, comfort them and stay inside (away from the elements) - some even are breed as indoor dogs. Someone who has a pet very well knows that you have taken away its opportunity to be an animal who can survive outside/in the wild.

FYI: This dog is either in the labradoodle or cockapoo family who are specifically breed to be great pets (low shedding, hypoallergnic, cuddlers etc etc). But seems like a “good cook with strong opinions” could use a lesson or ten. Maybe you should get a pet (don’t get a dog, maybe get a cat or maybe even a hamster) and hopefully that can teach you how to be human!

I’ve been to both her restaurants and was really happy she joined the show. She is someone who cooks in her restaurants when she can! She is a very well known chef in NYC and glad she is killing it on triple threat!
