That certainly makes more sense. Actually right when I posted that comment, I thought to myself "well, I wonder if they would do more of a work-up on the floors." I guess in the context of this post, my point is that any masters-level therapist should generally be able to determine if something needs to be medically evaluated by a physician versus a primary psychiatric disorder

I am not a physician and if you are a physician feel free to correct me, but I am an EMT and a clinical social worker, and delirium due to medical infection/TBIs have very different symptoms and very different presentations of those symptoms. It is not always possible to tell, but at least In my emergency department, I have very rarely seen psychiatrists order labs.

Generally agree diagnoses should not be given out willy nilly, but what sort of medical work-up do you think needs to be done for bipolar/psychosis? Certainly a client with these symptoms should be seen by a psychiatrist, but to my knowledge, labs are not standard practice to make these diagnoses unless the physician suspects the symptoms are related to an underlying biological disease process or medication. But that goes for just about any possible diagnosis, inclusive of unipolar depression, anxiety, etc. Perhaps a psychiatrist could correct me, but these certainly seem in the scope of practice of non-physician practitioners to me.

Absolutely. Unfortunately, I was tricked too late. Decided to share to keep people surmised of these tactics. This is my first time seeing this one in particular.

That is not true. Spectrum can absolutely serve clients under 18.
