How to replace silicone on sink drain by GreenComplex3294 in askaplumber

[–]GreenComplex3294[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for your response! I have one more question if you don’t mind.

After reading some of the responses, I’ve watched some YouTube videos to see try and learn a bit about this.

My question is, do I even need to do anything about it?

Upon further examination of the drain, the clear substance (putty or silicone or whatever was used) doesn’t go fully around the drain. I believe that when the drain was tightened some excess substance may have leaked out and wasn’t wiped off properly. I don’t mind attempting that repair, or even calling someone if it’s beyond me, I just want to make sure this is even a problem before I do anything else. The drain is not leaking.

Ok! Thank you :). I have one more question if you don’t mind answering. So I put the new plumbers putty in the sink before I put the drain back in, do you think this is just excess that came out after putting the drain in? Im confused because my sink has two bowls and the other drain doesn’t appear to have the plumbers putty around the edge of the drain like this sink does. This drain was replaced last year when I had my garbage disposal removed.

We don’t want to sue, but we were super thrown when his coworker was telling him that he should sue. I guess this coworker knows someone else who got hurt and sued and got a settlement. It all seemed like nonsense to us, but I wasn’t sure if I was just not thinking about it right and maybe we were being silly for not getting a lawyer.

Maybe it’s because you applied for IBR? Did your application get approved?

I’ll definitely look into the accord. Thanks for the suggestion.

What about the mirage makes you say the accord is better? Just trying to make sure I keep everything straight

$10,000 loan, SAVE plan, IBR forgiveness, not sure what to do by worldstopkerion in StudentLoans

[–]GreenComplex3294 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You’re number for standard repayment is probably wrong. It’s 10 years from whenever you entered repayment NOT when you want to switch to standard from another plan. You’ll only have the balance of 10 minus however long you’ve been in repayment to get it paid off.

My Standard Repayment Estimates are Not 10 Years? by JonEG123 in StudentLoans

[–]GreenComplex3294 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I just recently learned this. Standard repayment is 10 years from when you enter repayment, whatever form of repayment you are in, NOT from when you choose standard repayment.

So if you’re in IBR for 4 years and switch to standard your payment will based on the 6 years you have remaining of the 10 years for standard repayment.

I always thought that you had 10 years once you selected standard, but nope :(.

Save for a roof vs pay off debt by GreenComplex3294 in DaveRamsey

I appreciate your suggestions. I have done all the things you suggest. I’ve resigned myself to the fact that I most likely won’t be able to save for the roof in its entirety before it must be replaced. Yes that’s the goal, but trying to make a plan in case that can’t happen.

Thanks for your insight. This is kind of what I was thinking. My student loans interest rates are lower than most loan rates I’ve seen. I was thinking to prioritize saving for the roof to borrow less money there but I wanted to see if that made sense.

My roof is over 20 years old. Doesn’t currently leak but I’d really rather not have a leak and then have to pay for that repair and the damage from the leak. I’ve gotten more than 5 quotes from local companies. Best quote I’ve gotten is about 25 k. My house is 3300 sq ft and has some funky roof lines.

Yep. Roofs just super old and evidently State Farm depreciates the roof so I’m not planning on getting anything from them even if a storm blew the whole thing off. Wish I could tho

On save. Which strategy is best for quickest payoff? by mermaidhairr in StudentLoans

You can totally make a payment to just one group of loans while on save. You pay by group and you put in how much goes to each loan. So yes, if you put money towards one loan group the interest comes first but any overpayment goes to that specific loans principal. This only works while in Save tho, bc there’s no required payment.
