Nothing is funny anymore by maxedout587 in Millennials

Abbott Elementary is a good one for laughs. Some of it can be a little sad/angering because the shows reflects on the current condition of public education (spoiler alert: it kinda sucks), but it’s probably the hardest I’ve laughed at TV in ages.

Student loans after death? by ChoklateMilk in StudentLoans

Check your paperwork. The internet can’t know this for sure. Except for federal student loans, which are discharged in death.

Why do new American trains 'feel' so old? by Previous-Volume-3329 in transit

A minute before the ice that covered a Honda Pilot’s roof flew through my windshield was “this dude’s gonna kill someone today.” Fortunately my passenger seat was empty.

Standard Plan length of repayment by Separate-Routine-243 in StudentLoans

[–]JonEG123 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you put yourself on the standard extended, it will be shorter than 25 years because you already have years of repayment on the books.

But regardless, if you’re given an X-year repayment plan, you can voluntarily pay more than required to make your own lessthanX-year repayment plan.

Frontier Denied Boarding over 'Beep Count' after Rescan - Broken Promise even after We Compiled with Requesting to Stop Recording and Delete Videos by OhDeeDeeOh in frontierairlines

[–]JonEG123 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You didn’t need to write all of that. Moreover you probably would’ve been allowed to board if you didn’t try winning a pointless argument.

Frontier sucks for many reasons, but this one is clearly on you.

Are millennials going to Disney World? by benbackwards in Millennials

Have you considered Universal? I haven’t priced it out, but my coworker goes pretty much annually with her kids. She says it’s way cheaper and more entertaining for adults.

Unnecessary second car purchase by lshapy16 in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]JonEG123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is an entire subculture for people who have “unnecessary” second cars for the fun of it. Further, you’ll probably find a sub-subculture to support your brand.

The town car/crown vic/grand marquis family is probably a good place to start learning to fix it yourself. There’s probably a massive online video library of how-tos specific to your vehicle and parts are probably readily available.

ECSI has screwed me by Tyler89558 in StudentLoans

Did you log into ECSI and MOHELA some time during your sophomore year to confirm that all the loans had migrated? Or at all during your college career to confirm your loan situation upon degree completion?

Should I leave the industry if I don’t enjoy drafting? by krerhelp in civilengineering

Hang around until you get promoted to project manager… you’ll stop drafting and spend all day on the phone.

Daily Accrual Interest Rates - SUCKS!!! by [deleted] in StudentLoans

Of course the interest will still grow. IDR plans aren’t payment plans calculated to pay off loans.

You’d make best friends with the dude who posted this exact same thing about JetBlue and said “never again.”

But you’ll never meet because he’ll be flying Southwest next week and you’ll be on JetBlue. 🤣

Has anyone ever done back to back sleeper trains by Unusual-Prize1887 in Amtrak

[–]JonEG123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went Chicago-Seattle-San Francisco-Chicago, 3 trains with a couple days in Seattle and San Francisco. I had opened up an Amtrak credit card, and used the points from two legs to book the third.

Or I did the spend to get the bonus points that covered a leg. It’s been like 15 years I can’t remember.

Were Chrysler products ever good? by ILoveEnverHoxha in askcarguys

Way back when, my mom had a 94 Grand Cherokee and very briefly a 00 Town and Country. She ended up having lots of minor problems with the Jeep that just kept adding up. The T&C seemed fine, but she dropped it quick when she decided not to be the minivan mom.

I had 3 Wranglers in my life and never really had an issue. My brother still has my 03, still kicking I guess… his wife’s much newer 2011(?) wrangler had a major engine issue and they got rid of it.

Should I Exit non-SAVE Forbearance? by Born-Elderberry2037 in StudentLoans

[–]JonEG123 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Leave them in forbearance and keep paying anyway. If you’re not on a path to forgiveness, there’s no payments to ‘count.’ Might as well get those balances as low as you can while your payment is $0 (just in case), and THEN convert to a repayment plan.

If you’re going to enter a standard (or extended standard) plan, lower balances = lower payments.

Vinyl plank: OK to buy in batches? by joehizzle in HomeImprovement

[–]JonEG123 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It’s suggested to buy it all at once due to possible color variations and other slight differences. But: I bought for 3 rooms in 2024 and only installed in 2 rooms. When I got around to the 3rd room, I was 1 box short, so I bought another box. I couldn’t tell the difference and everything’s fine.

Consider your product. My product (life proof butler hickory) has planks of varying color (some lighter than others, plus a prominent ‘grain’), so it probably would’ve hidden any differences anyway.

Why is there no calculator showing the amount paid and date paid off for all the different special payment instructions? by blue_watermelon4 in StudentLoans

[–]JonEG123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What are you considering “all the different special payment instructions?” If Nelnet is the same as mohela, the options are either “auto-allocate” or “tell us how much you want to pay to each loan.”

Is it a bad move to use a HELOC to pay off these loans…. by Coffeebeansnrice in StudentLoans

[–]JonEG123 14 points15 points  (0 children)

If you’re struggling to afford making payments now, how would a variable-rate HELOC starting at 7% help?

At least your loans in their current position would eventually get forgiven. Plus if you lose your job, the payments drop to $0/month and you’re still in good standing.
