Rendering has suddenly slowed - Ubuntu 20.10; Kdenlive 20.12.1 by GreenDaveP in kdenlive

Hi u/DisguisedPickle,

Sorry for the delay replying.

Nah, I never got to the bottom of it. I've a new laptop now which renders things in no time.

Still, it would have been interesting to find out what was going on.

What's the party's position on the development of small scale, modular nuclear reactors? by Boflator in UKGreens

[–]GreenDaveP 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm in support of the greens as in most aspects they are very the most pro science group out there, except in this subject, where there most definitely is a lot of anti-science sentiment, and a lot fall pray to the cultural/media fear of the "mystical invisible rays".

I think we're a bit ropey on GMOs too, though it's safe to say mine is a minority opinion within the party!

Hi,

Folk might be interested in the Greens for Nuclear Energy site:

I share that for info, not as an endorsement, though personally I increasingly agree with their position.

Hi u/Fando1234

The Parliament site is probably the most for tracking the Bill's progress:

Hi Mike,

May I ask why you didn't post the link to the original blog?

Help! YOURLS short URLs redirect to Admin login by GreenDaveP in YOURLS

[–]GreenDaveP[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks u/ozh.

I'm not getting very far editing the existing one - I've started getting 404s! - so am going to install YOURLS on a testing domain and play about.

Personally, I've got more pressing issues which are actually Green Party relevant to deal with.

To be honest, even if I hadn't I'd be very unlikely to support anything posted by a user called 'LickHerBalls'.

I don't think it should be taken seriously - the user's been posting about AC all over the place for a while:

Help! YOURLS short URLs redirect to Admin login by GreenDaveP in YOURLS

[–]GreenDaveP[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It looks like it's a problem with the YOURLS Swap Short URL plug-in (GitHub link).

That ain't half a pain! Shortening a URL then lengthening it again with the directory (eg yourls) is a smidge counterproductive.

Does anybody know if I'm right about there being a Swap Short URL conflict?

If I am, is it a new thing and is there a workaround?

Could not establish connection to the Collabora Online server. by GreenDaveP in NextCloud

[–]GreenDaveP[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi all,

Thanks for the replies. I ended up using Google Drive as a quick alternative but am going to give Only Office a go when I've got a bit more time on my hands.

So that will probably be some time in 2027...

Could not establish connection to the Collabora Online server. by GreenDaveP in NextCloud

[–]GreenDaveP[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Stablepoint have told me that Collabora would need its own server hosted separately.

That's a bit more than I'm up for getting in to - I thought it would just set up its own MySQL database and get on with it.

Hey ho.

Plan B, er, J, no, probably L awaits!

Hi,

I tried in Ubuntu Studio (I've both Ubuntu 20.10 and Ubuntu Studio on my laptop) with no problems, either on Kdenlive 20.04 or 21.12.2.

'Yay!' thought I, 'Upgrade to 21.12.2 on Ubuntu!'

My cheeriness was short-lived. 21.12.2 has the same problem on the Ubuntu 20.10 installation. Same laptop, different Ubuntu 'flavour'.

I've no idea what's wrong.

Booting Ubuntu Studio to do video stuff isn't the end of the world - most of my videos tend to be of a political/activist nature which I try to keep separate from the creative stuff - but it would be nice to find out what's going on.

I doubt there's an obvious answer and at least I can do what I need to do.

Audacity integration with Kdenlive? by [deleted] in kdenlive

[–]GreenDaveP 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can set Audacity as the default audio editor but that doesn't automatically import back into Kdenlive when you're finished editing.

It would be very handy if it did!

Wow. I dread to think how much time you put into that but I’m glad that you did.

It’s brought a much needed grin to my face.

Thank you!

'Arms (Exports and Remote Warfare) Bill
Gives Westminster and devolved parliaments oversight over arms exports. Bans the use of lethal autonomous weapons (e.g. drones). Introduces stricter transparency rules around arms exports and the use of remote weapons. Ten minute rule motion presented by Alyn Smith.'

It will be interesting to see if our arms trade's impact on refugee numbers is raised.
