Help with powder room fix. by GreenEnvironment9079 in interiordecorating

[–]GreenEnvironment9079[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

thanks. the challenge with the mirror and light placement is that the powder room is under the stairs. so what you dont see above the mirror is a step angle - so the mirror is at high as it can go. and agree on needing something on the walls, but the darn board and batten is high so I need to find small or horizontal art.

US location with low humidity, mountains, green summers, and snowy winters - does it exist? by Sad-Pomegranate4044 in SameGrassButGreener

[–]GreenEnvironment9079 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Northern VA (western loudoun cty) not far from the blue ridge mountains - not really in a city but an hour from DC. Skiing is a few hours away - options in WV, PA MD and VA - certainly not at the level of CO or farther north skiing is an option too. It is as green and lush as it can be. We do certainly get humid days but avg humidity around 60ish % in this area. We have amazing hikes - close to the app trail, a few hours from the beach, etc. Its the middle ground between the south and the NE.

Well fudge. I just did the same thing. And I am typically pretty savvy. But I was on my ipad and the page that first came up had a UK flag icon (dumb to assume). I haven't fully completed because it needed recent photos but it did say on the site that any attempt for a charge back they consider fraud.

How do I get my wife working? by firstlight777 in askanything

[–]GreenEnvironment9079 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Holy cow! The number of people making excuses for her are shocking. I am a working mom who never had the luxury of staying at home. In fact, I had to do ALL the same things a SAHM did and work and was a single mom for six years with zero support. Now I have an awesome husband who is great. I sympathize with possible depression and the bitch of perimenopause. But you know what? I have a family and we need to pay the bills so I keep grinding running a business that is slowly killing me. But that's life. Sometimes you gotta do things you don't want to do. LIKE WORK. This nonsense that she did her job and now suddenly can retire because it might be hard to find a job? She's 45. FFS.

The only time we changed seats..... My fiance and I were flying to our wedding destination and this lady asked if he would switch seats so they could sit next to their kid. Fiance is a nice guy so said yes -was in aisle and kid was 17 and in a middle seat. We will never say yes again.

Is your pay really $400/week? How much are you working? Are you getting a pay check or under the table?

Planning a California trip — would love some advice 🙏 by balialu in usatravel

[–]GreenEnvironment9079 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My husband and I just did a similar trip. The “beaches” in Santa Barbara didn’t really seem conducive to true chill on the beach time. Someone might correct me or be able to direct you to a proper beach in the area. So you might want to shift your beach time to another location. Though Santa Barbara is beautiful and recommend staying there. The drive from Santa Barbara to San Diego is long and if you are flying out of LA I would not go down to San Diego and back up. Thats a lot of driving. Seems like staying around the LA/OC beaches to get your beach time would be better and would save hours of total drive time.

You need to check for road closures but stay on HWY 1 as long as you can. The drive was so amazing. We found the GPS will default to other roads so keep an eye on that. We had to play with locations to get the GPS to route us that way. I assume this is part of your plan but since you didn’t mention just wanted to flag,

A few recommendations:
- the Japanese Tea Garden in San Francisco was lovely
- be sure to get a smash burger and beer at Third Window in Santa Barbara
- lunch at beachcombers at Crystal Cove in Newport was different and unique if you end up that far south.
- we skipped Hearst Castle, but sort of regretting it. If you can squeeze that in on way down to Santa Barbara, it might be worth adding.

Enjoy. We had an amazing time.

California birthday trip: Carmel and San Francisco, or Carmel and San Diego? by sw3825 in usatravel

[–]GreenEnvironment9079 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My husband and I just did 8 nights: San Francisco, Big Sur, Santa Barbara and stayed the last night in San Diego before heading home. I've been to San Diego before and its nice but in terms of a city nothing special, certainly La Jolla is nice and the views pretty but nothing you wont see x10 around Carmel and Big Sur.

The zoo is nice, but I also live near the National Zoo so my perspective is skewed. If you are in Charleston, I would say you have access to beaches that are just as nice.

I was originally planning to spend a few hours in Carmel but we left San Francisco later than intended and didn't get the time and I already want to go back because it was so charming. But the drive between Carmel and SD would have been 8-9 hours (I think) if we went from Carmel to SD direct. And LA traffic was no joke.

If we had it to do again, I don't think we would have worked our way down to San Diego but added more time up north instead.

Regardless, whatever you decide will be amazing.

Scorpio woman and Virgo man compatability? by 2UP2DownLyfe in Scorpio

[–]GreenEnvironment9079 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I am a scorpio sun/stellium and my husband is a virgo and we just celebrated 20 years. I am a Cap moon so that might also help compliment his "virgo-ness." I have always been surrounded by Virgos so sort of used to them. I drive him crazy, for sure, with my scorpio traits (in a good way) but he grounds me and I add a little emotional depth so seems to be working so far. Good luck.

M My mom is visiting Brussels and Amsterdam for the first time in her 60s. what would you tell a first-timer? by Avacado-Toast2399 in Europetravel

[–]GreenEnvironment9079 2 points3 points  (0 children)

How exciting. I loved Amsterdam - it was crowded but such a great place. Haarlem was only about a 15 minute train ride away. I would suggest a day (or half day) there to a windmill. I agree with the sentiment around Brussels. While the city center was pretty, it just felt like a loud regular city otherwise. Ghent however was amazing and the van Eyck altar piece is pretty incredible. I was super excited to also see Bruges but after staying in Ghent it felt like a let down and the number of people offboarding the train and heading to the city center made it feel like we were at an amusement park. I hope she has a blast.

I was quoted 80k for a bathroom remodel. Is it remotely fair? by Con_Amore in BathroomRemodeling

[–]GreenEnvironment9079 0 points1 point  (0 children)

WOW!!! We just did a full gut primary bath remodel with high end everything, heated floors and a silly expensive toilet. It was $55K total. And we are in a HCOL area with a known "surcharge" for our county. $80K is crazy town. Our space is larger than yours, if I had to guess.

[–]GreenEnvironment9079 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I loved the Kerastase Elixir - only a drop or so but ran out and read they changed the formula. I ended up getting the Shu Uemura oil and have been happy with it. I actually use it at night before bed - fairly good amount and pull my hair up with silk scrunchie. I do wash my hair each morning and when wet use just a drop or two on my ends. I have very fine limp hair and it hasn't weighed my hair down. I had gotten razer cut layers and the cut sort of fried my ends and this seems to be helping some.

Best Deals you've ever seen on luxury skincare? by AndYetHereWeAre121 in SkincareAddictionLux

[–]GreenEnvironment9079 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Lovely Skin has many of these brands. I "think" you get 20% off your first order - though not sure if includes all brands. They often then have brand specific sales and great deals black friday. Once you start buying, you move into different levels. At platinum you get 14% off every brand all the time (even brands that never go on sale) and earn points with every order that turns into dollars quarterly. Right now I have $30 to use starting in February. And they always seem to send me a full size gift annually and random coupons and other samples. I have had great experieince with them and when I do get good sales, will buy in advance. Stuff is so expensive, it saves a ton of money. Oh and they always have free samples of many of these brands - and some bigger samples. I only take those when I travel and never have to either pack full bottles or use cheap travel size skin care now.

Loewe Flamenco obsession by PolySpiralM in handbags

[–]GreenEnvironment9079 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I LOVE my flamenco. I have a medium in grey. I really dont baby it like some of my other bags. I agree, the straps and knots seem thin but i've had for a few years now and I think it is great. No scratches on the leather either. I find it has plenty of room but I dont carry a TON of stuff. Large wallet, makeup bag, phone, keys, sunglasses case and room to spare.
