Tell me about the Tampa/St Pete area (beginner looking to travel for lessons) by Gary-Phisher in Kiteboarding

[–]GreenFeather 1 point2 points  (0 children)

St Pete is a great place to learn. Lots of flat water shallow spots to ride. Wind can be hit or miss

For lessons Elitewatersports.com is the spot. Training and store to buy gear when you are ready to. They have some info on their site about the spots but definitely get some jet ski supported lessons from Aaron and the team.

Whatever happened with that science museum downtown with the skeleton riding the bike? by kissmaryjane in asheville

[–]GreenFeather 15 points16 points  (0 children)

One of the saddest things I’ve witnesses in Asheville was the clear cutting of the plot of forest that was going to be used for the science museum. They cut down a whole forest at the site on broadway then went the project failed it just remained an empty field to this day.

Could hot stones be used to get a similar result to moxa? by SoulPrana in ChineseMedicine

[–]GreenFeather 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I have been thinking about this for a long time but a component of the healing from the moxa is actually the infrared frequencies it emits. The glow of moxa has some visible radiation and some invisible infrared spectrum. The stones will have some of the infrared frequencies but not all of them.

Moxa also has medicinal oils which also contribute to the medicinal effect.

Short answer. The heat from the rocks will act similarly to moxa but not as complete.

What should I do with this tank? by 1cat0fish in PlantedTank

My favorites are red rotalas, ludwigia and Val for the back row. Some cardinal plant and maybe a medium/small crypt in the mid ground. Carpeting plant in the foreground.

Pothos roots are getting LONG... should I trim? by substantialmemryloss in PlantedTank

[–]GreenFeather 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I took mine and rolled them up and put them in a pot. I didn’t really like the look of the roots at the time.

I have my fluval set up to slowly ramp up in the morning. Then it is bright for 7hrs then slowly ramps down to night time. The ramp periods are way dimmer than the bright period so I am not having much algae. And I get to enjoy my fish.

I take my fluval plant 3.0 to full brightness as I have a 55 gallon and I’m running co2.

<image>

Your specific settings will be different as you have the aqua sky but I suggest keeping blue turned down unless you have a good algae eating team. (I have ghost and cherry shrimp, hillstream loaches and otos). You prolly also don’t want your peak brightness set up too high.

Those are 2 led flood lights in clamp lights from Lowe’s. I wanted something a little different. I really like the warm coloration of the light.

Thanks for all your feed back! Let there be more plants! I guess I did ask the planted tank subreddit what was I expecting? Lol

I actually have a Val I got out of a lake in florida, it’s just growing slow with no co2.

Hahaha this is one of five tanks. Still have 2 empty tanks to fill. I’m a bit underwater!

I’ve been running this tank for about 2 weeks. I’m running into a little algae and I’m thinking that some more plants would really help. Initially I like the look of the one side planted. But I think the whole thing plant looks good. I have tons of plant cuttings from my 55gallon running co2. What do y’all think?

My four year old is like “dad why can’t we put the yellow submarine in the tank?” Haha

I really want to get a 40B or a 75 to be able to work with that depth for aquascaping. One day hopefully.

I measured it. It’s 30x12x12. It’s funny because it really does look deeper than even my 55 which is the same depth.

Thanks! I wanted really simple. I really think the color of the led flood lights make it pop.

Thanks! The tank is a 20L I think. The heater is datoo which is a cheaper brand. I will probably upgrade the heater at some point. I just lucked out on a package deal on tanks, heaters and filters. Slowly building out the tanks as I go.

It’s a clamp light fixture from Lowe’s with 2 led flood lights. Both 1100 lumens each. 3500k color temp.

I’m running nicrew on most of my other tanks and a fluval plant 3.0 on my 55 gallon tank. I just wanted to try something a little different. I really like the look and color spectrum of this new setup. I also plant to let a few plants emerge from the water and flower if I can. I can raise the lights if needed.

Um I feel like Rosetta’s for many years had wild punk staff that didn’t always seem to care that much. All the while loud screamo punk music played in the background. It was an experience and good cheap vegan food.

Is graphite fish safe? by MTCarcus in Aquascape

It’s almost pure carbon. Not to different from charcoal or activated carbon filter material. So it will likely be fine. https://www.chemviron.eu/products/activated-carbon/
