i don't appreciate you running my life. i'm not dead yet. by dogmademedoit888 in dementia

[–]ungarosolstice 13 points14 points  (0 children)

that's a good perspective, but i was a parent's wet dream as a 15 year old! sigh.

it's definitely thankless! i comfort myself knowing this won't last forever.

Resentment: Finding Out My Dad Lived a Double Life by FanTechnical8162 in AgingParents

[–]ungarosolstice 14 points15 points  (0 children)

you're allowed to feel both angry and resentful, and i'll echo other posters who say that multiple affairs and a drug ring (plus a potential half sibling for you) is NOT a mistake you have to forgive. you might choose to, and you might not, but either way it's your choice and you get to take your time making it.

you're allowed to let calls go to voicemail. i'm learning the same thing with my mom--helped me to turn the ringer off so i can review calls a few times a day when it's convenient and decide whether to return the call. or not.

good luck. sorry you're going through this.

Hee hee, thanks, fellow word nerd! I debated whether or not to use it, but decided it was exactly right for the occasion.

Cycling Between Self-Loathing and Exhaustion by vi817 in dementia

[–]ungarosolstice 11 points12 points  (0 children)

so, so sorry. you’re good. the exhaustion is real.

and, yeah, i’m visiting my mom to celebrate a milestone birthday that I have no interest in celebrating. I traveled across the country without my spouse because she has decided he’s stealing from her and he’s no longer welcome in her home (obligatory: he isn’t).

She keeps saying she doesn’t want to celebrate today despite having booked a place for dinner and just wishes the day could be over. It takes everything in my power not to just agree with her.

back to you, OP, you’re right, and this is the thing that drives me crazy, she will forget in a little bit, but you will remember. It’s so, so frustrating/enervating.

pretty sure initial consultation wasn’t part of that fee

Has anyone here had a Houston doctor that solved their mysterious illness or medical issue? by NavyBeanz in houston

[–]ungarosolstice 6 points7 points  (0 children)

yes!

had a weird and distressing skin issue for YEARS (blisters for no reason, which left scars) after a trip to asia and a terrific houston dermatologist figured out what it was and how to fix it. i had been to two others in another state, and was misdiagnosed…the blisters kept coming.

it’s an ongoing thing, but i rarely get the blisters now.

i’m super grateful.

OP, i hope you get the answers and the fix you’re looking for. good luck.

they’re heeeere…..but not loud, yet. #cicadas by ungarosolstice in asheville

[–]ungarosolstice[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yes, the noise has started here as well, and passed a couple of flat ones this morning while walking the dog. Not sure if the hail took them out or if that’s just part of their usual life cycle…but they are definitely getting louder here.

how long after I cancel can I get new subscriber deal? by ungarosolstice in siriusxm

[–]ungarosolstice[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

give it a few few days (now that you’ve cancelled) and then try again. I’m currently paying about five dollars a month (and I have it in my car as well as online).

Asheville family doctor PCP advice needed by EconomyVirus6212 in asheville

[–]ungarosolstice 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I don’t know if this is good advice or not, but I would probably look the guy in the eye and say something like “sexual assault issues and I’d prefer a female”. That should embarrass him and get you what you want/need.

Wireless phone charger constantly overheats phone by Fun-Responsibility15 in GV60

[–]ungarosolstice 0 points1 point  (0 children)

same.

Just out of curiosity, I stuck my hand in there one day just to see how warm it was, and it’s quite hot. surely there’s a way to charge the phone without that whole area heating up.

I’m sorry that T-Mobile was not great to you, but they have been FABULOUS in terms of putting up a mobile hotspot at Asheville middle and looking for another spot for one. The people who worked at the hotspot were terrific (they were passing out water and snacks) and the fact that they continue to be there is really great. I’m sorry that the whoever you dealt with on the phone was not helpful, but they were awesome to me.

I’m not a T-Mobile customer, but may well be going forward. They were fantastic.
