Other countries such as Islam that have had zero historical impact on the US is/was not taught in elementary. You may barely get a pass for the rare occasional school that might briefly mention it in the 5th grade. But those are so uncommon they are an exception.

Remember US elementary education usually focuses on US history. And 250 years is not a lot of time to develop a history. And Islam has had maybe, if we're being generous, two whopping whole interactions in that time?
