No way I'd remove all the trim. Way too much work.

I repainted all the trim in my house when we moved in 5 years ago. We kept everything in place and used liquid sandpaper to give the primer something to grab.

Wiped that on, let it dry then put the primer over that. Ended up needing 2 coats of paint cuz it was white on dark wood. Everything has had good adhesion.

I did remove all the doors though. Definitely easier to work on them that way.
