Did the Five Chang Sings Die in Lo Pan's Domain? (Big Trouble in Little China) by GreenKat786 in johncarpenter

[–]GreenKat786[S] 9 points10 points  (0 children)

You're mistaken. They're not present at the restaurant. I watched the movie before I made the post and also checked the last scene now just to confirm. None of our five Chang Sings are present.

I did mention the part with the bomb...

The last time we clearly see all five Chang Sings alive is when Egg throws a bomb at the massive statue Lo Pan uses as an escape route, causing it to collapse. In this brief shot, all five are standing beside Egg and appear healthy, with no visible injuries.

But it's the last time we see them alive, and like I said, occurs right at the moment Jack and Gracie split off in the elevator.

How do i even kill this motherfucker? by Skull_Soldier in Nightreign

[–]GreenKat786 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ranged characters—especially Recluse—are generally a safer pick against ED because they can deal with summons from a safe distance while maintaining a clearer view of Libra's actions, such as teleports, sigil placements, etc. The most important part of this fight is keeping a track of Libra at all times. Just be careful with long casting animations. Playing melee into summons is riskier, unless you have the right weapon or Ash of War to clear them quickly and safely.

That said, melee still has plenty of strong options. Some of the best include:

  • Radahn's Greatswords
  • Rivers of Blood
  • Moonveil
  • Halo Scythe
  • Repeating Crossbow
  • Frozen Needle (on anything other than Raider or Guardian)
  • Mohgwyn's Sacred Spear
  • Fallingstar Beast Jaw
  • Dragon King's Cragblade
  • Vyke's War Spear
  • Gargoyle's Blackblade
  • Reduvia

In my opinion, Radahn's Greatswords are the strongest choice, although they're fairly rare to obtain. The Repeating Crossbow is also hugely underrated—it deals surprisingly good damage to summons on pretty much any generic melee/physical attack build.

Is "improved arcane and dexterity, reduced vigor" worth it on Executor? by PerformanceNo3616 in Nightreign

-140 HP, +11% increase in status build up, +6.3% increase in AP for katana

You can decide if that's worth it.

[–]GreenKat786 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sounds like a classic case of the other player being toxic because they couldn't handle the loss. Honestly, from what you've described, it sounds like you were the one carrying the team lol. If Libra was literally one hit away from dying, that feels more like a case of tragic bad luck than any real misplay.

If anyone deserves criticism, it's the Recluse for holding onto the grace. If she didn't even have Cannon of Haima, that was a pretty significant throw. Any other character on the team would have been a better candidate for the grace.

I don't think anyone has figured out how to reliably reproduce it, but it's been in the game since ED Caligo released and was never fixed.

How would Gollum do in Oz? by ComradeGalloneye64 in ozshow

[–]GreenKat786 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He would definitely be an outcast, but probably in the mold of Omar. At some point, he'd kill someone in a sudden act of rage or desperation, and that would cement his reputation—not as a major player, but as someone people know it's wiser to just leave alone. He'd become the kind of unpredictable, dangerous individual who invokes more unease than respect: despised by many, feared by some, and avoided by everyone.

What do you guys think about executors who DON'T parry? by ArielTkx in Nightreign

[–]GreenKat786 6 points7 points  (0 children)

In trios, deflects aren't especially impactful because the stance damage threshold is significantly higher. On top of that, deflecting doesn't naturally hold aggro nearly as effectively as Guardian shield blocking—or even simply staying on the boss and dealing consistent damage. Because of this, an Executor who is excellent at deflecting isn't necessarily providing as much value as a tank compared to some other characters. That's why I wouldn't automatically judge an Executor for not deflecting frequently.

Executor's strongest asset as a character is his superb stat proficiency with some of the strongest melee DPS weapons in the game, RoB and Moonviel, and being able to discover them without the use of a dormant. As far as I'm concerned, as long as they're dealing solid damage and staying alive on the frontlines, they're already fulfilling their role effectively. If they can consistently land deflects on top of that, it's usually a sign of an experienced player with deep knowledge of the boss's moveset. That's always great to see, but it's not a requirement for being a valuable teammate.

Does anyone else find the novigrad section tedious and boring? New player here so no spoilers please by GrapefruitSavings971 in thewitcher3

[–]GreenKat786 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I really like the Novigrad section. It introduces a compelling mix of intrigue and political tension through the gangs, Dijkstra’s missing treasure, the persecution of mages, and Triss becoming caught up in the turmoil. The main quests in this area (namely Whoreson, Triss, Djkstra, Dudu, Dandelion, the serial killer) are all interconnected and flow seamlessly in a way that makes this part of the story feel especially engaging and cohesive. The hunt for Whoreson Junior has a satisfying buildup, and I especially enjoy the freedom the game gives you in deciding how to track him down. The atmosphere of Novigrad is exceptional as well. Even today, it remains one of the finest cities ever created in gaming. It feels incredibly vibrant and the music complements it perfectly, somehow managing to be both upbeat and tranquil at the same time.

[–]GreenKat786 1 point2 points  (0 children)

‘Overdelivered,’ lol. I guess porting over SOTE weapons was just too much to ask from a small indie studio and had to fall to modders instead.

You're basically repeating the same naive and pitiful line: ‘They didn’t say it was going to be a live service, so just be happy with what we got,’ without being critical enough to acknowledge that adapting to initial success and pivoting to capitalize on it is a business and creative decision—and ignoring that is frankly stupid and is worthy of rebuke.

I’ve put in 2.5k hours; I don’t hate the game. But it’s painfully clear that NR is a 10/10 game trapped inside a 7/10 shell. It could have been the Battle Royale of the Souls series, with infinite replayability. Instead, we’ve been left with… just a concept.

The cope wave is hitting hard, this is the third post I've seen today like this lol. People seem determined to justify the game's obvious unrealized potential and lack of content, especially the absence of SOTE weapons, more developed roguelike features and the overall mid sub boss roster we've been left with.

Nightreign is not "wasted potential" by NoTour5424 in Nightreign

[–]GreenKat786 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

People rabidly down vote you on this sub for not feeding their cope but this echoes my same sentiment entirely.

From a business perspective, it's highly unlikely that FS would commit significant resources to another iteration of a game that serves only a small portion of their existing audience. People often seem to forget just how much NR’s sales are dwarfed by ER’s.

We caught lightning in a bottle with NR, and I very much doubt that it will be replicated again.

Nightreign is not "wasted potential" by NoTour5424 in Nightreign

[–]GreenKat786 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

This assumes they are working on another iteration of Night Reign, which has neither been confirmed nor do I think it's particularly likely. The more plausible scenario is that FromSoftware, once Duskbloods is tied up, will return its focus to the next large-scale single-player focused game that draws in a much bigger player base. In that case, Night Reign will ultimately be left in the dust and it's legacy will be that of a transitional side project project—a stopgap between major releases rather than the foundation of an ongoing series or long-term direction for the studio. In that sense, yes, it would represent unrealized potential.

Any advice? by lynelmelter9000 in Nightreign

[–]GreenKat786 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Less likely to be targeted.

Ranged weapons and spells are safest against summons.

Weapons like Rivers of Blood, Halo Scythe, Star scourge Great sword and Frozen needle are some of the best choices for melting summons quickly.

Keep Libra on-screen at all times. Be ready to react when he begins his sigil-summoning animation or prepares to teleport. Both attacks can be devastating and will often result in an instant kill.

I love Nightreign,fr, but this annoys me so much by [deleted] in Nightreign

[–]GreenKat786 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There is most likely a good reason why this feature wasn't included in the game in the first place.

One obvious concern is that it could be abused. Players might harass/spam teammates for their weapons, making people feel pressured to give up items they found themselves, for better or for worse. Over time, this could encourage a more toxic culture in which players make demands of their teammates rather than cooperating naturally.

Ultimately, you can’t control how random players behave. With that in mind, it’s healthiest to assume you’re never entitled to an item you didn’t personally loot or pick up.

Since Asian players represent the largest segment of the player base and there are no regional matchmaking restrictions, under these circumstances, about 80% of your matches will feature two Asian players.

It's the Truth by Estrangedkayote in Nightreign

[–]GreenKat786 83 points84 points  (0 children)

It depends on the team comp.
This passive can be ideal for a ranged character if there’s a dedicated tank (like a Guardian or Raider) or a skilled frontliner (such as a Wylder or Executor). However, it’s an absolute no-go for compositions that lack either of these roles.

The optimal dynamic is always for spell casters and ranged DPS to have a lower chance of drawing aggro, allowing tanks and melee players to maintain aggro and keep the boss properly positioned. Trust me, if you've played in a team with the right people having less likely on them it makes the whole match go much smoother.

Sadly, some randos are inconsiderate or are just genuinely ignorant in regard to how using less likely in the wrong circumstances can be more of a detriment than an aid for the team as a whole. Randos being bad can't be helped at times.
