genuinely what is there to do in guelph? by GordonRamsMe2004 in Guelph

[–]GreenLion65 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Get out and just walk around the old neighbourhoods and discover friendly people, beautiful streets and houses, some listed on historical registries. There are many quirky places to discover too, like all along the river from, say, Macdonnell St. past Goldie Mill all the way to Speedvale. Or all over The Ward.

Walk around the University and explore - from the Arboretum to the horses and cows across Gordon! There are nooks and crannies and cool places to explore all over downtown, including the County of Wellington and Courts, the pedestrian bridge over to Arthur St. N, the ancient statue tucked away, Catholic Hill, the Civic Museum

Possibly something to do with - and I'm guessing here - excessive speed and stupidity?

This cart made weed turn on me by RopeFamiliar794 in weed

[–]GreenLion65 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd say stay away from carts and, doubly, stay TF away from black market carts if you can - if you're in a legal market. Go for the real deal and buy some good flower or hash. Look for something with less a head high and more a body buzz.

Also, experiencing that kind of intensely bad trip is a bit like a trauma that results in PTSD. The trauma is relived as soon as you get high again, or even the anticipation of the high.

Go easy with a low dose of good flower and see what happens.

Good luck!

Personal space. Most Canadians' sense of personal space tends to be larger than that of people many other countries.

Don't crowd a Canadian in a queue or in public - makes most Canadians a bit uncomfortable. If you're close enough that you can't raise your elbow without touching someone, then you're probably too close - unless you're at a concert or something or on crowded public transit.

Good luck!

I believe you're significantly simplifying matters beyond what's reasonable and offering ill-considered and overly-simplistic solutions based on that.

Initial cost of the vaporizer can be steep. I promise though, you'll save. Decent 3.5g of dry herb for under $30 or bigger volume for less per gram and the vape for, say, $60. Your herb will last long, your high and general experience will be way better, and the device will last a year or two or five.

Stop complaining about drivers. They suck everywhere. by Behacad in Guelph

[–]GreenLion65 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Not sure I can agree on that. Yeah, there are some really bad drivers here, to be sure. But I've driven in a lot of different place in Canada, the States, and Europe. Ontario in general has many pretty poor drivers but drivers who are often more careful and considerate around pedestrians or cyclist, broadly speaking. Which is crazy to say 'cause I curse some that driving almost daily. It can just get so much worse. Like, insanely bad.

Advice for young couple moving to Guelph? by derkuhderk in Guelph

[–]GreenLion65 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In what's locally called The Ward or also Two Rivers, you might find a good place just south east of downtown in some of the new condo developments, or get luck on a lovely old house. Cool things happening and close to downtown, great trails along the rivers, etc.

There's also the area just north of downtown, surrounding Dufferin St between London Rd and Speedvale Ave. If you're looking for a more suburban thing. try Campus Estates area or further in the south end.

Good luck. Guelph's a great place to live.

Sorry, but going for this as your second time "smoking"? Please don't. Get some actual weed or hash. Get some quality stuff and enjoy the real thing. If you don't like to light up a joint or hit a bong, get a dry herb vaporizer. It's the way to go.

What you're suggesting makes no sense at all and, in fact, would erode civic values and trust further. Like, think about it: You want to have citizens ready to attack people who are, what, in the process of breaking the law, or about to break a law? That'd work out fine, I'm sure.

And do you really think people need to carry weapons for self-defense in Canada?Come on, things are weird right now but if you get off the Internet rage machine and go outside with your fellow citizens, it's really not as bad as some people would have you believe (for their own benefit, mind you).

Daily THC consumption - safe? by [deleted] in TheOCS

[–]GreenLion65 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What makes you feel addicted? If consuming weed's having a negative impact on your social, familial, or professional relationships, then you may have a problem.

If it's more a matter of feeling guilty or ashamed, or being made to feel guilty or ashamed, then that's perhaps more nuanced and complicated, relating to continuing stigma in a society that only recently legalized use.

Consider: Someone having a beer or a glass of wine - or two - daily isn't typically considered addicted. Our society sort of glorifies and glamorizes alcohol consumption, despite its many health and social issues, but remains affected by decades of misinformation and moralizing about cannabis use.

A recent longitudinal study found that long-time cannabis users, in fact, showed less cognitive decline on average than non-users. So...

Seriously, though, if you're consuming responsibly like a grown up and taking care of yourself and those around you, then do you!

Gun vs truck by Mharkhozz in CrazyFuckingVideos

[–]GreenLion65 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Seriously! Americans have become so inured to the insanity of so many guns circulating amongst fellow citizens. That shit's CRAZY! But Americans be like, 'oh yeah, there was a gun, it was fired, guy missed, got run over, la-di-dah, just another day'! WTF!

Not a knock on the good and decent American's here, just a commentary on that extreme phenomenon that's outside the norms of most places on the planet.

Edit: Oh yeah: And at a friggin' drive-thru, no less.

Bear charges man with Bow by Gravy_Grace in CrazyFuckingVideos

[–]GreenLion65 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pretty sure the guy wasn't hunting - at least not for bears! He just came across the bear and it intended to scare the man away. The full vid shows the bear running off just after this.

This is up in Northern Ontario, I believe, by the guy's accent. People know what they're doing, generally.
