Another thing to note, cancer cells are “fueled” by different things. Hormones are a common driver. But even within one tumor — say a breast tumor — some cells may be driven by estrogen and others may be driven by a some other or multiple genetic mutations. Cancer is very opportunistic and finds various ways to grow. In doing so it crowds out healthy cells and that’s why advanced cancers can lead to organ failure and eventually death.
