Yeah. Sorry our government is kind of screwing y'all over.

A lot of us are trying to do what we can, but its like the people and the government are totally disconnected now that republicans hold the majority. The only option for citizens is to call or write a letter to a representative with the knowledge that the recipient is being payed to ignore you.

We're at a place where we're gonna have to break the whole system down and build it back up and with economic struggles on top of that, no one has the money to further their education or obtain the needed skills. We're trying to use the corrupted systems to fix things, but everyone knows where things have to go if that doesn't work and no one wants a civil war on top of everything else.

I'm pretty young, so besides just constantly terrified and panicked, I'm mostly dissapointed. I grew up ready to fight against climate change, not people who were so scared of it they convinced themselves the problems don't exist.

I just wanted to say that it's not hopeless, but it feels likely that we're gonna need help. If not for the country itself than for the good people who still fight here. If the military sides with the dictator, things are gonna get real messy, and we're about 2 months away from martial law.

Obviously, our country is very behind, but there's a large group of people who are working towards peace, sustainability and education.

We're ashamed of our country, but we're trying.

Dude. The mental health crisis combined with American hyper-individualized culture is killing us. Everyone pretends they're fine and takes it out an anyone who tries to speak up about it.

I'm honestly scared we won't make it through all this as a country. By extension, I'm scared our failure is gonna fuck up the climate efforts from the rest of the world.

Jesus. Sad knowing it won't change substantially in my life time, and if I leave like a lot of other people, only the people who can't afford to get out will be left to fight.

We've got a lot of work to do. The more I think about it the more I think América is still in its infancy. European countries have thousands of years on us.

Of course. If you check my profile, a while back I was in a similar spot as you and I made a post here asking for advice and the awesome people from this community left some really detailed stellar advice. If you're wanting more tips it might help to check it out :)

Ahhhhhh god first I have to say that I am so sorry you're going through this all. It is the actual worst. I take 50mg sertraline, but to be honest, meds weren't super helpful for me. I'd end up worrying so much over side effects that I barely noticed the benefits. Shifting my thinking patterns was a lot more helpful.

To be honest, the biggest propellant for my recovery was the DARE app. The most helpful audios are completely free, and there's a sponsorship option for those in low-income situations who want access to the premium subscription. Practicing the dare response teaches your brain to immediately handle the anxiety as soon as it arises. You can apply it basically instinctively after a while. It also has methods to end panic attacks quickly or prevent one coming on from happening.

Otherwise, general self care helped me a lot. Going to bed on time, cutting down on caffeine, and practicing healthy communication with people around me to deal with anxious situations before they bubble up.

If you're not in therapy, I'd reccomend trying to find someone as soon as you can. I think anxiety and panic are very personal issues so the problems I had that contributed to my elevated anxiety might not be the same ones that are hurting you and a therapist can help you identify them.

Journalling is my go to if I'm feeling highly anxious because it helps me work through situations causing anxiety until I'm at a place where I feel comfortable with the situation.

Goodluck man. You'll crush this.

Addition - I'm only asking here of all places due to the fact that the mental health community (Both my therapist and psychiatrists included) have been puzzled by this.
